The Imagined Landscapes December Gnome launches today!

Badges to earn, parties to organize, homework to finish, and the days until Longest Gnight are racing past. Join Gnipper, Gnicely, and Gnudge as theyeach work to earn their final badge for Forest Troop 17.

The Wee Three Gnomes are beginner-friendly gnomes. If you’ve never knit a gnome before, these are good ones to start with. Each one has a special little something that makes them stand out that might teach you something new, while being focused on simple and fun.

I’m delighted to be a participating dyer for this year’s makealong and I’ve put together a selection of sets which would work well for these gnomes. You can find them all on our website and you can find the information and purchase the Wee Three Gnomes pattern on the Sarah Schira

The messy reality of prepping for shows! I’m busy winding lots of scrappies for Yorkshire Yarn Fest next month and I’m in my happy place playing with colours and making sets which are full of potential 🌈

Do you have a favourite scrappy project? I love socks but I want to make some colourful mitts, especially now it’s getting so cold in the mornings!

Thank you to everyone who has ordered a gnome bundle for the upcoming Sweater Weather mystery makealong with Sarah Schira - I hope you have so much fun making Gneptune the gnome!

If you haven’t gotten your yarn yet, I still have a few bundles left on the website ❤️ and if you haven’t heard about the makealong yet, you can find all the details and the pattern on the Imagined Landscapes website

If you love making gnomes, then I think you’ll love the next mystery gnome from Sarah Schira

The Sweater Weather MKAL features Gneptune, a very dapper gnome and I have created six different colour options on both sock and DK. I think I’m going to keep one of the heavier sets for myself - I’m overdue making a larger gnome to add to the collection!

The yarn sets are available on my website now and you can find out more about the makealong and purchase the pattern on the Imagined Landscapes website.

The holidays flew by and Wool at Portsoy has come round so fast! I’ll be back in the Church Hall as usual on Saturday and I’m looking forward to catching up with everyone there. It’s always a lovely festival with entry by donation and lots of lovely vendors to see. ❤️

It’s no secret I love Lisa Ross’ patterns and recommend them to everyone! Once again, she is running a mystery wrap makealong this year and I have created some kits on my iridescent sparkle sock base. If you aren’t a fan of mysteries though, the kits are also perfect for any of her previous mystery makealongs and there are lots of lovely designs to choose from. For full info on the makealong, see Lisa K. Ross and these kits are available now on the HennyPennyMakes website

Days 2 and 3 of the summer of colour makealong

Last year I got the minis club from the lovely Laura Laura Bailes (The Lonely Knitter) and wanted to make something special with it. I started a Granny Shawl and it was looking beautiful but after only using 6 colours I was already down to two rows per colour, meaning that if I used all the minis (36 in total) it would end up looking very scrappy and uneven by the end and that’s just not me. So I ripped it back and have started squares instead, working a colour progression and I’m in love. I’m waiting until I’m finished them all before I decide if they’ll become a snuggly wrap for winter mornings or if I can get a cardi out of them instead. I should definitely have enough, just not sure whether they’ll work placement wise. Are you a wing it and see if it works kind of crafter or do you a stick to a pattern and follow the rules? I must be honest, I love making something unique that really reflects me ❤️

I’ve decided to share what I’m working on every day for the summer of colour makealong. It won’t be Instagram worthy perfect photos (especially as we are about to start the school holidays here) and there might be days of very little progress but it will be honest and colourful. I miss when everyone used to share what they were working on without the need to make it perfect or keep their grid work related only. I think it’s lovely just to see knitting and crochet on our feeds and enjoy the craft and creativity - that’s why many of us make isn’t it!?

Day one - This is the Christmas in July sweater by Tanis Lavallee made using my yarns and I’m working on the second sleeve just now - so close to finishing!

I am very excited to be co-hosting the Summer of Colour makealong with Helen of Helen - here’s to two months full of glorious colour 🌈

Both Helen and I have videos with the details of the makealong and pattern inspiration (just in case you fancy a new cast on 😉) - you can find them on our YouTube channels - and we would love you to share your projects in our Discord threads. I will only be drawing prizes from my Discord threads (you can find the link in my stories highlight) but I would love if you could brighten up Instagram too by using whenever you are posting

The rules of the makealong are simple
- Runs from 1st July until 31st Aug
- Works in progress are allowed
- You can use any brand of yarn
- Knit or Crochet
- Your project must use more than one colour
- Neutrals are only allowed when they are acting as a contrast to other colours
- No finished objects needed, just share lots of photos in the chatter threads on Discord

Will you be joining us? ❤️
