HOP-SCOTCH INTO OUR NEW WORKSHOP SPACE! :)
What an exciting first weekend! Studio viewings are going brilliantly, and our new workshop space is already getting lots of love!

The space will be getting plenty of use this month, from Walkspace workshops & walkshops (all on a pay-what-you-can basis), to Lino printing (unlimited prints using pro equipment & inks) and a workshop on workshops for creatives wanting to develop their own workshop delivery skills!

But the beauty of having more space is having more availability! And you know us - an empty, unused room makes us itch! 🤣
Workshops, classes, meetings, a space to start a project or finally finish one… the possibilities are endless!

New exhibition!
WALKSPACE: Contemporary Walking Art

Join us TONIGHT for a (not so private) PRIVATE VIEW :)
Everybody is welcome! Pop in between 7–9pm for an informal celebration of the second exhibition by Walkspace members.

Walkspace is a Midlands-based collective of artists, writers, photographers and walkers who explore walking as part of their artistic practice.

The exhibition brings together 10 artists, showcasing a wide range of mediums and different approaches to walking – all discovering new ways of connecting with our surroundings.

Tonight’s PV will be in true walkers’ style – bring your own drink (flask or bottle, we don’t mind!), or enjoy the provided tea & biscuits :)

•noooook• IS EXPANDING!
(this time beyond our own walls, which you know we can stretch beyond the laws of physics 🤭)

In a very unexpected turn of events last week, we’ve taken on a new premises! Just next door to our current •nook•!

We have big dreams and some rather vague plans for what to do with all this new space. And while the whole project might take a little time to come together, our new artist studios will be available very soon!

So, we’re inviting EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST!

We’re looking for practising artists, makers and creatives who would like to join our •nook• family.

Studio spaces range from 3–12m², with different sizes to suit different creative practices.

We’ll be arranging our first viewings this weekend, so if you’re looking for a creative space to call your own, we’d love to hear from you!.

HIGHBURY PARK - a conversation in paint & embroidery

Two artists, two mediums, one shared love for Highbury Park.

Janette Summerfield & Sue Bibby find a place of retreat and inspiration in this much-loved local green space, they explore the same landscape through very different approaches.

One captures its intricate details through embroidery, the other interprets its shapes, colours and atmosphere through abstract painting. Both results are stunning!

THIS THURSDAY • Artist talk & live demo with photographer Richard Battye.

Hear about Richard Battye / Richard Battye processes, his inspirations, and how he creates his photographic work. No Photoshop. No AI. Just photographs of urban textures and decay, slides, a projector and the human body….and maybe even become his canvas yourself (wear light-coloured clothes if you fancy getting involved!)

We’re obsessed. (But you probably know by now that we have a bit of a soft spot for old fashioned slide projection at •nook• :)

The event is FREE, but booking is recommended to help us keep track of numbers.

It’s also the FINAL WEEK of Richard’s exhibition PROJECT at •nook• - so if you haven’t seen it yet, this is your chance!

Some rather exciting news for our •COSY CINEMA•!

We’ve been granted support from Film Hub Midlands , and we’re very pleased to announce the first screening in our new programme!

HANDMADE FUTURE is an award-winning 2026 documentary and global phenomenon that asks urgent questions about sustainability, craftsmanship and the future of making.
Travelling across six countries, the film meets artisans keeping traditional skills alive while pushing back against fast, cheap production - from rug weavers in Morocco and block printers in India to a slow-fashion designer from Cotswolds.

It feels like the perfect film to show between the two weekends of Birmingham Open Studios CIC - both celebrate what we also cherish the most: people who make things by hand.
