✨ My client said to me, “Don’t tone down the whimsy”, and I actually think those could be words to live by ✨
It’s miserable outside, so I’m bringing you joyful joinery, playful pattern and a colour palette that is far from dreary.
There is so much to love about this project.
A box room being asked to work hard now,
and into the future as its lucky owner grows.
But what do you do when the ‘obvious’ place for a bed means compromising? On space. On options. On daily annoyances - like making a high bed when you really don’t want one.
We get creative.
We rethink the layout, solve problems and come up with options you might never have considered. The aim is to tick all the boxes, even the ones you didn’t think were tickable.
In this case, a bespoke bed nook was the answer.
It makes use of the otherwise wasted space beneath the window, with shelves for books, Lego creations and all the other treasures children collect. There’s also a cupboard, hanging space and drawers built in, so we’re squeezing plenty of storage into a pretty small room.
And of course, there’s the fun bit! The perfect mix of colour, pattern and a few heritage-inspired touches that give the room plenty of personality. No copy-and-paste interiors here.
Because a practical room doesn’t have to be a boring one. And a small room doesn’t have to mean compromising on everything you’d love to have.
Follow along for updates as this scheme comes together, implemented by my lovely eDesign clients. It’s going to be a good one!
