What made you start pottery? 🏺
‘I did ceramics as part of my BTEC many years ago and in recent years I’ve enjoyed watching the Pottery Throw Down and fancied having a go again.’

What made you choose Clayways?💙💚
‘I was looking for somewhere I could take my sister for her birthday to have a go at pottery.’

What’s a piece you’re really proud of?✨
‘So far I’m pleased with the small vase I experimented with scraffitto.’

What’s one piece of advice you’d give to someone thinking of starting pottery?🏺💚
‘Go for it and don’t be afraid of making mistakes, that’s where the magic happens ☺️’

Last week at Clayways!💙💚

As always, busy, busy, BUSY! Lots of new faces came to us last week for their first ever sessions playing with clay! For most it was their first time on the wheel too - and everyone that came in did fantastically! We can’t wait to see how they choose to decorate their pots once they’re bisque fired!✨

Our members also were in last week, busy making and decorating ahead of the festive season! 🌟 our kiln saw so many beautiful pieces leave it this week!👏

Nothing short of a small army!

One of our youngest members Reuben was in last night for his session, and as always made so many amazing (if not slightly eerie) small sculptures!

Reuben is always a delight to have in the studio, not only to amaze us with his creativity but also as he has such a great sense of humour! It’s very rare for other members and the team to leave the studio without an aching face from all the laughing! 🤣

We can’t wait to see how Reuben chooses to decorate these pieces once they’re fired! 🔥
