So very useful, though, I think most of these were candle stands.

Can anyone identify this jug? It is unglazed inside and out and obviously has spent a lot of time either sitting in the embers or a trivet with a circular hole in. It is properly round bottomed hence the woven rush collar it sits on. From the blackening it has always been the property of a right handed user, the handle is past four o'clock to the centre of blackening. It seems unlikely to be a cook pot but most likely to warm wine or beer which it must have done over a long period of time. Similar shapes appear to have existed for at least three thousand years, but surely the handle and the markings mean something to someone. The first to positively identify it has the option to buy it, can't be fairer than that can I?

A late 17th century oak side table, not as wide as it looks, but because it's only about 25 inches or so high. Cleated top, a good sized drawer and shapely legs, what more can you ask for in a good workaday table. Over 300 years old and ready for the next 100 and with the drawer runners well waxed won't need any repairs before then.
