Remembering those who lost their lives on this day 20 years ago at the world trade centre.

I remember it so well, seeing it played out on the news like some action movie. It was so tragic and devastating.

I remember exactly where I was as I first heard and my actions immediately afterwards.

I remember the fear and the disbelief that something like this could ever happen.

Hearing recordings of passengers on the planes, saying goodbye to loved ones. Seeing the emergency services rush into action both on the day and in the days and weeks following.

Twenty years since this awful event happened and I don’t think this day will ever pass without remembering the tragedy, fear and loss.

Thinking of everyone who was affected on 11.09.2001 and every day since.

Hello my lovelies

I hope you are all safe and well, and coping as best as you can with what's going on in the world right now.

I want to take this opportunity to personally thank you all for your patience during these uncertain times and give you a brief update on why we have been so quiet.

During the world of lockdown, I decided to have a break - this was for a couple of reasons, firstly my own health and wellbeing (as well as those around me) and through not going to the post office I felt I was doing my bit in helping to reduce the potential spread of COVID-19, as well as reducing pressure on the delivery services who are stating that the last few months have been much busier than the usual Christmas season and they have been struggling to keep up with demand.

Whilst lockdown restrictions are beginning to ease, I am staying home pretty much all the time, apart from helping my partner in his business and as much as I miss you all and what I do, I am continuing to shield in the hope of seeing my Dad sooner rather than later (he lives in Scotland and is shielding) as we haven't seen him since December 2019 which is what we are struggling with the most.

I will be making use of the next few weeks to stock take our "ready to post" items, re-evaluate our current ranges and research new ideas for the coming months leading up to the festive period.

We don't feel ready to return to any form of normality as of yet, however we will update you all as soon as we have any further updates or news.

In the meantime, I would like to thank you all for your continued support and wish you all the best of health (physical and mental) as we transition through this very bizarre year.

As we continue to remain as safe as we can in self isolation and/or social distancing, I have really been missing spending time with friends and family..

My family all live a fair distance away so in 'normal circumstances' we don't see each other as often as we would like. But I see my crafty friends, especially my bestie, very regularly and it has got me thinking...

If you could spend a day tomorrow crafting with anyone, who would you choose to spend that time with?

Which crafts would you like to be doing?

Do you have any big plans for after the lockdown is over for getting together?

Please all stay safe and look after yourself and loved ones xoxo

**UPDATE**

I would like to apologise for being a little AWOL lately... it is taking us and our family some time to adapt to the current "normal" we are all finding ourselves in - I'm sure lots of you are feeling the effects of the additional stress and worry, not to mention closed suppliers and not being able to get to the post office as often, but we are getting there slowly.

We had just worked out a new routine for our working day at the beginning of the year so to have to completely change that has been challenging to say the least lol.

We have been doing lots behind the scenes, sorting out, clearing out and re-arranging our work space, getting things done around our home and working through our stock take and I finally feel like I can breathe!

Next on our list of things to do is to work out which categories of greetings cards are missing from our current selection and get to work on designing those.

Is there anything specific you would like to see from us?

Hope you are all keeping well and staying safe with your loved ones... I for one cannot wait to see family and friends when things are back to normal

As things stand we are remaining open as our business is only the two of us - we live together and work together. We work together in our industrial unit, in our separate offices so the social distancing is no problem.

We are however restricting post office trips to only Saturdays as due to the current guidelines and restrictions we want to stay indoors as much as possible.

We are not allowing customers to come to our office at the moment, however our emails and phone number is still available.

Please all be kind to each other and yourselves, look out for one another, stay home where possible and stay safe

* EXCITING COLLABORATION NEWS *

Who is Mrs V?

Kelly opened Mrs V’s Designs in January 2020 with her ever-expanding range of handmade badges, keyrings, pocket mirrors and more.

Kelly has been a multi-crafter for many years and was looking for a way to bring her love of handmade and design work together. While many of her designs are ready-to-go, she also offers a personalisation service where she will create your product using your choice of imagery or wording.

As Kelly suffers with both mental and physical health issues, having Mrs V’s Designs allows her to continue to work in an area she loves whilst also giving the flexibility of working around her health problems.

Who is behind CACFAO?

Laura opened Cards And Candles For All Occasions in April 2010 after many years of crafting various projects for her family and herself.

Going back to childhood she could often be found crafting with her grandmother so when she was forced to give up full time employment due to health problems, setting up her own business doing something she loved seemed like the logical step.

Laura creates a range of greetings cards, keepsake cards and keepsake gifts for all occasions, all of which can be personalised to the customers’ requirements, whether a specific theme/topic or a sentiment which is personal to the sender/recipient.

What is our collaboration and how did it come about?

Kelly and Laura have been best friends for a number of years and throughout their crafting journey have often spoke of doing a collaboration together, although finding that ‘perfect something’ was more difficult that it seemed.

When Kelly opened Mrs V’s Designs with her badge designs, the opportunity became obvious for a collaboration with Cards And Candles For All Occasions – badges and cards go so well together!

Over the last few weeks we have been working on a range of greeting cards and badges to complement each other and they are now at the point of being ready to release our first batch of designs – each card will come with a badge which matches the occasion, and instead of having to buy these separately you will be able to buy them together at a special collaboration price.

We are looking to expand this range in the coming months, and would ask you to let us know if there is anything in particular you would like to see.

We hope you love these designs as much as we have loved working on them!

Laura and Kelly.

Good morning all,

Hope everyone is well, and your loved ones are staying safe.

I just wanted to pop in to day to share some motivation with you, something to bear in mind through all the chaos - you CAN get through this, we will all get through it together.

This is a 6x6inch greeting card (which can be ordered from our website) perfect as a little note to a loved one, but also a sentiment I wanted to share with you all, something to remind you that YOU ARE BRAVE

There are many small businesses who are not in a financial position to get through the uncertainty we are facing and I do believe we stand our biggest chance of getting through this if we all do what we can to support each other.
