Come behind the scenes at our Newcastle based small studio Cobalt Studios where the magic happens to create the brand! We spend months taking the designs from ‘palette to print’ as all of the patterns come from my original artworks - in particular marbled papers. We build collections from scratch taking inspirations from art, nature and contemporary culture. A lot of the designs are inspired from my time living in Florence and we love both the coral motif and the many book end patterns I came across when living in Italy. I also love going to inspiring exhibitions and I’m looking forward to seeing the new 90s exhibition Tate Britain. One of the photographers I worked with KOTO BOLOFO has imagery in show. And no day is complete without my favourite coffee Ernie which has to be a cortado!

Come shopping with me in my local village of Corbridge in Northumberland. I love exploring this pretty village and discovering treasures in their unique independent shops. I thought it was about time I brought some of my outings to life so I could share some of my favourites! We started which is a colourful emporium of re imagined every day products. I then moved on next door to which contains a number of antique sellers under one roof and always worth a visit. I love books and is housed in a lovely old building with lots of signed books and a great selection of cards and children’s books. And finally I am addicted to searching out vintage earrings as I don’t have pierced ears so my last stop didn’t disappoint and I was able to feather my nest with some lovely jewellery. But my favourite part of shopping in my home county is all the lovely shop keepers who always make it a pleasure to shop local

My daughter Sophie designed a new marbled pattern called Placard and we coloured it in six different palettes. The plan was to edit the selection down to a couple but we liked them all!! So they all were launched as the core of our Colour Chroma collection earlier this month with a selection of fabrics, cushions and lampshades. We found some fun palette names for them too. We’ve been focusing on developing our linen designs recently and we were lucky enough to be able to show our samples and lengths of fabric The Design Social Pop-Up last week in London. We were thrilled with the response and we have opened lots of new trade accounts and loved introducing our small independent brand to interior designers who hadn’t come across us before. We evolve and grow each time we get the chance to interface with other industry people and it was so lovely to meet up again Jessica Osborne Ottoline A RUM FELLOW Milola Design | Wallpaper & Fabrics Kate Medlicott | Fabric Designer and so many others. It is a very supportive environment to work in and I would like to thank my fellow Northumbrian designer friend Charlotte Gaisford for her encouragement, advice and friendship over the years since we met. She continues to be an inspiration and it’s always fun to have a partner in crime!

We had a great first day at the London edition The Design Social Pop-Up Chelsea Old Town Hall yesterday showing our wares in the grand ballroom and meeting so many other talented exhibitors and lovely guests. Great to be next to my fellow Northumbrian designer and friend Charlotte Gaisford and opposite Milola Design | Wallpaper & Fabrics who is lots of fun and is doing amazingly well with a broken foot! The event is open today from 10 to 4 and we hope to have another busy day showing our new collection and making new contacts. When the new designs initially come in to be made into cushions and lampshades then we often cut them up in the studio before delivering them to our seamstress and shade maker who are both based locally. In fact all of our fabric and wallpaper is printed in the uk and we try and keep most of our extended team local - from upholsterers to cushion and lampshade makers. Keeping it British 🇬🇧 If you would like to see our collection in the flesh then come and visit us tomorrow and Thursday in London…
