Beautiful flashes of light as the sea and sun wash over this bank of seaweed. And that soothing sound of the waves and seabirds ❤️

Some more colour play - colour runs in stencil layers, from lemon yellow to magenta(left) and the reverse - magenta to lemon yellow(right) - all fabric paints. Then over dyed in the same colour mixes - magenta to lemon. You can see what a difference the order of layering the colours make. They just make me think of ice lollies!! xx

Gorgeous bees buzzing on the deutzias I planted last year. Yesterday I had to feed an exhausted bee with sugar solution - so much nicer to grow nectar rich plants for them xx

I've just added a new one-off workshop to my Podia collage site (details below and on the site)
I'm trying out taking bookings directly through the podia site - everything I have is crossed that this works!!
The advantage of this is that you get direct access to the site and the classroom. The videos will all be added on 20 July 2026. Possibly earlier if life behaves!!
It’s a lovely workshop and I’m really looking forward to recording it for you. I hope lots of you will come along and play.
So just follow the link below and it should all work. Any problems, just let me know and I will sort them out ###

SCRAPPY/STRIPPY PATCHWORK STILL LIFE
Workshop
We all have baskets/boxes/piles/heaps of fabric scraps and strips. Too precious to throw away … but what to do with them all? Well, here’s a lovely idea.
In this workshop we are going to collect some of our bits and pieces and learn how to put them together to create new larger cloths, using heat n bond fabric adhesive.
We will discover what makes for a high impact colour scheme, and then curate our scraps to create two ‘new’ cloths that provide that essential wow factor
We will then use our made cloths to create a beautiful still life piece. The illustrations here show flowers in a pot – but we will look at other possibilities for imagery in the workshop. We will learn to plan our stitching to enhance our work – and then machine stitch our piece
A session looking at the possibilities to enhance our work with mixed media, will allow us to add any final details
Finally, we will learn how to mount our work to present our masterpiece in all its glory
12 videos between 30 and 90 minutes
Design templates for still life provided
Lifetime access
£60 for whole workshop

Oh my - what a good looking boyo!! Who remembers Freddie the Fish??!! It’s 11 years since I made this awesome discovery on Swansea beach, and rushed him home (don’t worry - he was already an ex fish) to slap on my gelli plate. I kept him a couple of days (had to be in a chicken run outside as words were said about his perfume …. ‘Ffs Hilary - that thing (thing thing??) stinks ) - which attracted possibly every cat in Swansea. So he had to go - but I got some awesome prints. Which I still have …. somewhere 😂 🐟 xx

Ok - so here is Nervous Mary wearing her harness. It is from this that she takes her name. Originally there were just Two Mary’s - as there are two Barry Badgers, Two Hamish McTavarts and in fact every toy unless the boys have accidentally ripped one of the pair to pieces. This is for peace’s sake. The boys don’t subscribe to the ‘you don’t have to treat all your kids equally’ school of upbringing. As far as they are concerned, you absolutely do, or else mayhem will descend. So all toys arrive in twos. And so it was with the Mary’s. But Dylan loved this particular toy so much, he basically has them both.
Ok - so why the harness? Well - Milo is somewhat of a handful (full on reactive) around other dogs. This causes me daily humiliation and we have 2 asbos. I decided to see if getting a nervous dog harness and lead would lessen the degree of contempt other dog owners view me with !! But I got the size a bit wrong. So Milo got a bigger one and for fun I put the tiny one on one of the Mary’s. Dylan loved this and started carrying her round by the harness. And so Nervous Mary was born. No-one is sure what she’s so nervous about - but we all now know to give her a bit of space. If only other dog walkers were as kind!!!
Anyone who loves Fools and Horses will also note the reference to nervous Nerys - a favourite character.
You did ask Susan Frith 😂😂😂 🐮 🐶🐶❤️❤️
