Get stocked up for the long weekend 🔥

Monday’s a bank holiday, so there’s an extra day for getting a few people round, firing up the wood-fired grill or sitting outside once the evening cools down.

Before the weekend gets underway, have a quick look at the woodpile. There’s nothing worse than getting everything ready only to discover you’ve three logs, no kindling and a firelighter that’s been in the shed since 2022 😂

We’ve premium kiln dried birch, ash and oak, along with kindling and Flamers to get things started.

The yard is open until 18:00 today and from 09:00 to 17:00 tomorrow, so call in and get yourself sorted for the three-day weekend.

Birch starts her. Oak keeps her going 🔥

That’s the thinking behind our mixed birch and oak crate.

The stove’s had an easy enough time of it over summer, but the busy season isn’t too far away 🔥

Pini Kay briquettes look a fair bit different from the usual split logs, and they burn a little differently too.

They’re made from compressed hardwood sawdust, giving them a dense, uniform build for a steady, long-lasting burn. The channel through the centre helps air move through as they burn, while their compact size makes them particularly handy for smaller stoves.

Nearly halfway through August… has the wood-fired grill made it out yet? 🔥

We all head into summer with plans for pizzas, burgers and long afternoons cooking outside. Then the weeks fly by and the grill is still sitting under the same cover.

If that sounds familiar, get it dusted off, pick up something decent to cook and give it a proper run. Whether it’s a pizza oven, an open wood-fired grill or one of those big contraptions you swore you’d use every weekend, food cooked over a proper wood fire is hard to beat.

If the logs have been sitting on the shopping list as long as the grill has been sitting in the shed, sort that while you’re at it.

Get the oak in before the cold comes 🔥

The firepit still has a few good summer evenings left in it, but autumn is close enough to start thinking about what’s stacked beside the stove.

Our full crate of mature oak is a proper way to get stocked ahead of the change in season. Oak is a dense hardwood, so once established it burns slowly, holds a strong, steady heat and needs fewer top-ups than faster-burning logs.

Each crate contains around 1.2m³ of oak, roughly 500–550kg, neatly stacked and cut to approximately 25cm to suit most wood-burning stoves.

The logs are kiln dried below 20% moisture, averaging around 17%, so they’re ready to burn as soon as they arrive.

Use a few when the firepit comes out on a cooler evening, then keep the rest dry and ready for autumn.

Bring the Fleadh back to yours 🎻🔥

Belfast is in full swing this week as Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann fills the city with music, dancing and visitors from all over.

If you’ve friends or family staying for it, there’s a fair chance a day in town will end with a few people back at yours.

Ash: our August all-rounder 🔥

August is a funny one. It can still feel like summer when you sit down, then have you reaching for another layer once the sun disappears.

For those cooler evenings, ash is a cracking choice. It burns longer than birch and gives off a steady, dependable heat without turning the firepit into a full winter operation.

It’ll keep things comfortable after dark, and it’s no bad thing to have stacked for the stove if August weather starts getting ideas.
