Something I've been thinking about lately...
I've been in quite a few homes recently, all from different eras, and it's reminded me that every house has a story.
As designers, we often help people modernise their homes, and I absolutely love that part of what I do. Homes need to work for the way we live today.
But I also think it's important to respect the character that's already there.
Not everything old needs replaced simply because it's old. Sometimes it's those original features, a well-made piece of furniture or something that's been in the family for years that gives a home its personality.
When I think of vintage, I don't just think about age or myself 😉I think about authenticity, craftsmanship and history. I think about pieces that have lived a life, and if they've developed a beautiful patina along the way, even better.
For me, the real magic happens when those older pieces sit comfortably alongside something new. The balance of old and new creates another chapter in the home's story rather than trying to rewrite it altogether.
That's what creates a home with warmth, depth and personality.
I'd love to know... what does vintage mean to you?
