Proud to announce that we’re officially sponsoring Paul Greaves for the Normy Legends Games tomorrow.

Despite possessing the physique of a retired darts player and the turning circle of a canal boat, Paul still insists he’s got “one more big game” left in him.

We’ve been assured the toupee is match fit, the knees are heavily strapped, and the half-time inhaler has been fully serviced.

Truthfully though, behind all the usual banter, this one genuinely means a lot to him. Getting back out there with old teammates, seeing familiar faces and being part of something the whole community gets behind is what days like this are all about.

And jokes aside, Paul does a brilliant job coaching the Under 16s girls and is hugely respected by the players and people around the club. The time and effort he puts into the younger generation doesn’t go unnoticed and says a lot about the bloke he is.

That being said… once the whistle blows, normality will return. After he’s recovered, warmed up in his real Canada Goose coat and remembered who he is, he’ll be straight back to rinsing anyone he can and reminding everyone how good he used to be.

Granted… he has mentioned this emotional return roughly every 11 minutes for the last fortnight and there’s a strong chance he’ll try and force out a tear during the warm-up if there’s a camera nearby.

But in all seriousness, we’re proud to support a great local event and an even better bloke.

Best of luck Paul — make us proud son.
Or at least make it through the warm-up.

Also he did mention this is one of his finest moments and favourite photo.
