Today was a prep day for me today cutting out then pinning bows all ready to sew tomorrow. This is time consuming but so worth it.
I got asked recently why and how I got into hair bows and scrunchies.
π€© This all started 4 years ago. π€©
For those that don't know I have 2 girls (now 8 and 5 years old) and it was the Queen's jubilee. My eldest up until she was over 3 had hardly any hair so once she could have her hair done and styled of course bows came into our lives.
She also (as most 4 year olds girls can be) very vocal on her likes and her dislikes and she wanted something special for her hair for some events going on in our village to go with her outfits. With half term coming up I had promised her a shopping trip to find the perfect Hair accessory. However life threw us a curve ball and she got chicken poxs. So no shopping trip. I have always crafted and created items so we designed what she wanted and that was my first ever hair bow.
I had already decided to give a handmade and personalised small business a go when I has my second child to work round my children.
So I booked my first fair to showcase my items that September . I decided to also do a small selection of hair bows mainly as a stall filler.
I found when buying hair bows and accessories for my girls I just didn't like to quality or couldn't quite get what I wanted and the making of the jubilee bow inspired this.
I never imagined that this would then become the main part of what I make and has changed so much since that first bow I made 4 years ago .
I also still make my other items as well and love how this has changed over the year.
What I pride myself on especially with my hair bows, scrunchies and hair accessories is that they are handmade by myself with quality products.
If stock I order arrives and I don't think it meets the quality that I want. I donate it normally to my local school for their craft projects.
I love what I do but as many small businesses every purchase really does help. Its not easy but I wouldn't be here where I am without that support
Please support local and small businesses where possible π₯°
