Introducing local talented artist, Dee Griffiths. Many of you know Dee who runs our monthly painting workshops and guides us to produce the best results.

Dee will be running two painting workshops at our very first One-Day Creative Retreat: Painting & Sewing Escape in July. Collage birds in the morning followed by nature sketching and painting in the afternoon.

Silk painting with Hilary is also on in the morning, followed by simple hand sewing in the afternoon.

So many things to do, it's going to be a lovely, friendly, calm day with plenty of creative time and a nice lunch as well.

Ooh! I do love the art of batik. Choose a design, or make one up if you like, then colour in with hot hot wax. You can either dye the whole thing one colour, or use a paintbrush for different colours. Either way, the result is amazing and also slightly unpredictable. Who wants to take a chance at our next batik workshop on Sunday 2 August 10-1pm.

Go on, don't be frightened of your sewing machine, it can be your friend. Learn the sewing basics in this fun and informal workshop over two Saturday mornings.

Upcycle a shirt to make a funky cushion cover, we have plenty of cotton shirts to.choose from.

The next week choose two fabrics from the Scrapadoo stash (I'm not gonna lie, that part is tricky as we've got so many gorgeous fabrics), then turn them into cute bunting.

Be with other like minded people and have fun.

Silk painting is so relaxing, no artistic skills are needed (phew). All you have to do is choose your design and colour scheme then go with the flow.

It must be about 30 years since our last trip to Amsterdam when we accidentally got caught up in Queen's Day celebrations and lost each other and our way numerous times due to the crowds.
Anyway, last week we went again and enjoyed a very pleasant lunch with my niece, followed by an exploration on foot. The rain never stopped, but it was warm and so lovely to visit the sites of Amsterdam again.
