I am a full-time artist based in Norwich. I create original prints and drawings. I use sketching, printing and painting.

I became a full-time artist in 2018, although I’ve been creating since gaining a BA Fine Art from Central Saint Martins in 1990. The common thread throughout my creativeness is my love of drawing. I grew up in the Peak District and have lived in London and New Zealand and now Norwich. All of these experiences feed into my creativity. This results in a balance of work which is often illustrative in

nature and work based on the female figure informed by life experiences. I’m based in Norwich and work out of my potting shed studio at the bottom of the garden.

Absolutely loved 𝕸𝖔𝖙𝖍𝖊𝖗 𝖔𝖋 𝕱𝖔𝖔𝖑𝖘 (𝘏𝘰𝘱𝘦) ‘Freak Show’ installation at The Glasgow School of Art last night. The exhibition in the Stow Building until Thursday 3rd Sept. Lots of fabulous work from the ‘26 MLitt Contemporary Art Practice. Hope’s Mr Blobby brought the contemporary to Glasgow.

It’s a wrap! Thank you to everyone who popped into my pop up exhibition at Anteros Arts Foundation

Some wonderful conversations, some happy dance sales and I made a couple of linocuts I’m eager to print…

My recent drawing based on a trip to Madrid and the Museo de Prado attracted lots of positive comments, people loved the energy!

Apart from the one person who said “Well you wouldn’t have that on your wall would you”

Was a bit scared to show my paintings!

This work embodies a profound internal duality, materialising a tattoo representation of “a cat amongst the pigeons.” Captured within a single form is the friction between harm and protection, predator and prey, transforming the figure into both a sanctuary and a battleground.

How do we protect the softest, most marginalised parts of ourselves when the threat is already holding onto our hearts?

Also. Love cats and pigeons and orange beanies.

Ballet

Butch and ballet: an exquisite co**se of sorts. The work explores the friction between institutionalised gender conditioning and the authentic self, embodied here by muscular, heavy-set shoulders holding together against the expectation to conform. With no
confidence in the gaze, the figure navigates a gender presentation that fits like a cage.

Also. I love the voluptuous belly overhanging the skirt.

My wire sculpture, previously exhibited at Mandell's Gallery for Being Woman

Blind down in the gallery. Onto the next thing!

I will be there to talk about art and things most days, and will possibly be drawing crows.

All set up! Kind of crazy to have a solo exhibition immediately after the Pride exhibition, I’m exhausted but very happy with how it looks. The staff at Anteros are amazing and have all the good advice, thank you!

I stumbled over my speech on the opening night for Passing Pride , a mix of emotions and I couldn’t see my text as the contact lenses I was wearing weren’t quite right for close vision! (Joys of getting older)

Anyway. Here’s what I had written. And a few of the artists, some with masks.

Hello. I am super d**e
I am so proud of us
We have created not only a beautiful display of artworks, But works that challenge, defies, shouts. Art that has a voice, telling us that we will not be erased, we will not be silences, we will fight (again) for our rights. We reject the EHRC guidance. Norwich Pride said it well in its statement. Rejecting any revision that validates discrimination and prejudice.

We have taken words and experiences that have Intended to harm us , and tuned them into strength and q***r joy, particularly important to help our audiences to find that strength and see the it can get better.

I am so proud of the Assembly House , allowing us to use this space, demonstrating true allyship when others are taking down their flags, or being forced to by fascist authorities. We need this more than ever. Thank you (and Richard) and John the house manager for being amazing - also the playlist! and then there’s the cake.

Thank you to Norwich University of the Arts for sponsorship.

With my curation for Pride and Queerfest Norwich I’m always community focused. Strive to be inclusive, intersectional, inter generational, accessible. Including artists who say they are not artists, they just want to have a voice, students, graduates from the uni, emerging and established artists. Together we lift each other up, we network, we plot, we create a new gay agenda (not forgetting taco Thursday) to champion each other, we embrace…all that Mr Blobby stands for.

Happy Norwich Pride
Look out for each other
