I am a full-time artist based in Norwich. I create original prints and drawings. I use sketching, printing and painting.

I became a full-time artist in 2018, although I’ve been creating since gaining a BA Fine Art from Central Saint Martins in 1990. The common thread throughout my creativeness is my love of drawing. I grew up in the Peak District and have lived in London and New Zealand and now Norwich. All of these experiences feed into my creativity. This results in a balance of work which is often illustrative in nature and work based on the female figure informed by life experiences. I’m based in Norwich and work out of my potting shed studio at the bottom of the garden.

Hands up, baby hands up, Gimme your heart, gimme, gimme your heart.

Working on a series. I think I want to make 12…hands of time. Enjoying this so far.

Linocut using traditional Lino, proofing in black ink. Details may be coloured in possibly.

I often start things, and get distracted, (mainly by cries) so may take me a while.

Hands to hold. Hands holding symbols…Need to think of 8 more.

Drawing of a torso on a plinth, with arm options.

Need to work out how to attach. Maybe cut out all the arms, mount on board/cardboard and use wing-nuts. Having fun playing. It’s about hiding/revealing, what is one comfortable showing.

It’s very much work in progress.

Self-portrait with a pigeon, replacing a crown with a symbol of urban landscape. The dark, whimsical energy of the painting, combining the everyday urban pigeon with memento mori symbols, creates an almost surrealist image. Rejecting conventional hierarchies of value and status, aligning with a creature often marginalised yet resilient.

Aka. Me with a pigeon on my head, because pigeons also represent being not very welcome in society.

Delighted to have this piece accepted to the ‘Held Together’ ncas members exhibition opening to the public next week at Anteros Arts Foundation Opening event. Sat 3 October 5-7 pm

Painting of a cherub, using my plaster cast of a cherub as reference, which used a drawing of a cherub as reference. Heavily influenced by the colour of my mug obviously, which was entirely subconscious.

Small paintings in the studio during the st.eths.art open weekend. Had a bit of an art block, so forcing myself to paint during the open weekend has been great. Few more cherub details, then I think I’ll leave it. Acrylic on MDF.

What a delight in seeing the disruption that is the Phyllida Barlow exhibition, beautifully complemented by Daisy Parrris’ Fist Full of Dreams, and of course the architecture and surroundings of Wolterton Hall. I sat for quite sometime with the drawings, truly a ‘laboratory of thinking’ as curator Clare Lilley stated. Excellent work Simon Oldfield

The exhibition finishes on Sunday. Go see if you can. Also. The hot chocolate in the cafe was divine.
