Things were going brilliantly at the weekly van wash.

Then Kevin found the pressure washer.

One clean van. One airborne colleague. Far too much foam.

FFS KEVIN! 😂

🔥 READY FOR THE WEEKEND?

As the evenings get colder, stoves across Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire are coming back into regular use.

If yours still needs sweeping, servicing or has a niggling fault you’ve been meaning to sort, now is the time to get it dealt with rather than waiting until you need the stove every day.

🔥 WHAT DO WE LOOK FOR DURING A STOVE SERVICE?

Door rope condition. Firebricks. Baffles and internal components. Moving controls. General wear, integrity and signs that something isn’t working as it should.

Small faults are much nicer to find during planned maintenance than on a cold evening when you want to light the fire.

That’s why our servicing is deliberately thorough.

Tiny team. Proper stove care. 🔥

Apparently one Pete wasn’t enough, so we’ve called in the miniature crew!

A little bit of fun showing the care behind a stove service: internal parts removed, a thorough clean, refurbished metalwork, attention to the door seal and everything carefully reassembled.

Small workers. The same attention to detail.

🔥 SWEEP OR SERVICE? THEY’RE NOT THE SAME THING.

A chimney sweep is exactly that: cleaning the chimney or flue system.

Our Premium Stove Service is for customers who want the appliance looked after as well. We strip it down, clean and inspect it, check seals and components, deal with serviceable items where required, reassemble it and carry out our final checks.

Two different jobs for two different needs.

Kevin was told to move the vacuum a little closer.

Technically, he did. 🤦‍♂️

Nobody mentioned riding the hose across the hearth.

🔥 BLACK STOVE GLASS?

Blackening glass is often treated as something you simply have to live with. Sometimes it is down to how the stove is being used, but it can also be a useful clue that something needs checking.

Fuel, airflow, draught, door seals and the condition of the stove can all play a part.

If your stove isn’t behaving as it used to, don’t just keep cleaning the glass and ignoring it. Have the appliance looked at properly.

🔥 REPAIR RATHER THAN REPLACE

A damaged firebrick doesn’t always mean an otherwise good stove needs major parts replacing.

On a recent Fire Fox 5 in Southwell, the rear brick was repaired using specialist firebrick adhesive as part of a full stove service. The door seal was renewed, internal components were cleaned, prepared and repainted, and the stove received a full polish before being checked and returned to service.

This is the sort of work we mean when we say stove care, not simply chimney sweeping.
