A short history of lino printing.
Linoleum was invented by Frederick Waltonin in 1860
It was initially used as flooring. Years later artists and commercial printmakers
began experimenting with it as an alternative to woodblocks for wallpaper and
illustration.

In the 1920s it was introduced into schools as an affordable craft.

A lovely 3 hours with great company and lots of crafting.
Thank you for another fab workshop, the last one of the year ! And thank you to the ladies who came today
so pleased that you enjoyed it.

I am happy to say that Sarah will be returning with her workshops next year, these are the dates that we have on the calendar for 2027 ! :

~ 21st January
~ 18th March
~ 29th July
~ 23rd September

They all take place on Thursdays 10am - 1pm at the slightly increased price of £55pp

Sewing machines and all the materials you will need are included in the price as well as a frame to house
your finished picture.

If you are organised and thinking of Christmas presents the January date would make a great gift.

We also have creative gift vouchers on our website too if you are unsure what date the recipient can make.

A little snapshot into what it is like to host creative workshops in your home.

It is always really important to me to make sure the space is lovely and clean and safe for you to come to.

I have been hosting workshops for so long now that I have got it down to a timely routine.

I haven’t mentioned here in the video but I also get the tea tray out with cups, tea, coffee etc and fill the kettle
ready to make you a drink when you arrive.

If you like what we do follow along, I will be sharing how the class went and the students finished
pictures in my next reel

If you could learn any creative skill this week without worrying if you’d be any good at it what would it be ?

I tried throwing on the wheel this year, it was completely out of my comfort zone, something I hadn’t tried before and I enjoyed so much.

For those few hours I didn’t think about anything else, just how I could position my hands to mould the clay on the wheel.

Learning a new craft as an adult is one of the closest ways to experience the world like a child again and I thoroughly recommend it !
