One pattern. Knitters across the world. None of them had ever met.
That is what a test knit looks like, and it is one of my favourite things about designing patterns.
Before a pattern reaches you, it passes through real hands, real yarn, real living rooms and knitting bags. Different yarns, different needles, different time zones, same stitches. I find that genuinely magical every single time.
Thank you to every one of them. You made this pattern better.
Pattern releasing very soon. Follow so you don’t miss it.

Normally I miss Wednesdays and feel like my WIPs have nothing to report. This week, somehow, here we are.

Half term knitting at Doniford Bay

Apparently the hottest bank holiday on record, which meant about twenty minutes of actual knitting. Once in the morning, once in the evening when things cooled down a bit. In between, the sock stayed in the bag.

Plenty of other things to do though. Fossils don’t dig themselves out of the bedrock.

Knitting and buying yarn are, as we all know, two entirely separate hobbies.

These days I mostly buy at events, because being surrounded by like-minded collectors 😅 and actually being able to touch the yarn is something online shopping simply cannot compete with.

The result is a stash worth managing properly, and I’ve been doing that on .ravelry for years. Whenever I have a design in mind it’s the first place I go, just to jog my memory before I start pulling boxes.

Yesterday I sat down to pair yarns for a new colourwork sock project. Opened Ravelry, went through my stash, and realised I have so many beautiful options already. That moment of rediscovery is genuinely one of my favourite parts of the process.

Do you track your stash, or is every box a surprise? 👀

Ellie’s spring socks test is almost halfway there. And I can’t help it, there’s a new sock idea forming. 🧦

The weather is too good not to use it, a couple of hours without kids, free will and here we are.

Lately, I’ve been trying to remember who I was before there was always something or someone needing my time.

A few days in Tenby meant pattern photoshoots squeezed between family walks, sea air, slow mornings, and knitting in the pauses. A reminder that work can still feel like your life, not something happening beside it.

Still figuring things out after leaving corporate, but I think making space for what you love might be a decent place to start 💛

The quiet after Big Flock. 🐑

This is the exhale after the weekend. Soft music and nice things while my brain catches up with the weekend. So many good conversations, so much beautiful making, and a bag considerably heavier than when I arrived.

Everything is tagged, go find these makers.

The applications are in, and I’ve chosen my testers. 📬

Emails are on their way to everyone who applied, good news or bad news, you’ll hear from me either way. If you’re in, check your inbox for your Slack invitation and next steps.

If you didn’t make it this time, thank you for applying. There were more entries than spots, which I wasn’t expecting, and I’m really glad the interest is there. If you’d like to be on my tester list for future patterns, the sign-up form is in my bio.

Now I wait. And quietly check my phone every five minutes for progress photos 😉
