Day of the Dead is all about colour, joy, and celebration — and so are we. 🌸💀

This time of year reminds us that creativity keeps memories alive.
We’ve mixed bold Peruvian trims, bright tassels, and a Day of the Dead patch to honour the spirit of vibrant making — where every stitch tells a story.

Layer your brights. Clash your patterns. Celebrate contrasts.
Because colour isn’t just decoration — it’s memory, emotion, life itself.

So whether you’re stitching, crafting, or just soaking up the sparkle — add a little colour today.

Tea. Trims. Repeat. ☕🎀💜

Because let’s be honest — a cuppa in one hand and a ribbon in the other is the real mood board of happiness. ✂️✨

Which trim would you add to your self-care routine today — lace, jacquard, or sequins? 👀

Ever sit down to sew… and wonder where on earth to start?

I bet every maker has those moments!

Here’s the little secret that rescues me (and half my customers): Let colour make the first move.

Choose the shade that gives you that tiny spark — you know what I mean - the one that makes you think ‘ooooh, yes’.

Once you’ve got your colour, everything else falls into line: the trims, the fabric, the vibe, the whole mood of the make.

When in doubt, follow the colour that makes you feel something.

That’s where the magic begins. ✂️✨

🐝 AND THEN THERE WERE THREE…

Tonight we find out who wins The Great British Sewing Bee 2026.

Anna. Beth. Emma.

I know some of you have been watching along with me all series, so before anyone gets crowned, I want this ON THE RECORD. 😂

🏆 Who do YOU think should win?

ANNA, BETH or EMMA?

And no diplomatic “they’re all lovely” answers. They ARE all lovely. That’s not the question. 😂

👇 Pick your winner and tell me WHY.

I shall return after the final to inspect the evidence… 👀🐝✂️

Please remain vigilant.

There have been reports of makers saying things like “I really need to have a clear-out” and “I’m never going to use all this.”

These are not normal thoughts and should be taken seriously.

If you hear a crafty friend talking like this, stay calm.
Sit them down.
Make them a cup of tea.
Remind them why they bought the 11 metres of velvet ribbon in the first place.

Do not, under any circumstances, let them near Facebook Marketplace unsupervised.

Please share to raise awareness.

Together, we can save the stash.

WHERE DO YOU GO TO, MY LOVELY? 🎶

I send an awful lot of ribbon, braid, fringe, tassels and assorted sparkly nonsense out into the world.

Most of the time I have absolutely NO IDEA what happens to it afterwards. 😂

So I LOVE emails like this.

This embroidered fan ribbon is apparently going to embellish a Chinese-themed machine-knitted longish jacket/coat with a feature zip front.

And now, obviously, I need to see the coat.

This might actually be one of my favourite things about Mokshatrim — you lot look at something I’ve sourced and see possibilities I would never have imagined.

So, Friday afternoon question:

What’s the most unexpected thing you’ve ever made with a trim?

And if something from Mokshatrim has ended up somewhere interesting, PLEASE SHOW ME. 👀

I am extraordinarily nosy about where they all go.

So. This is what I’ve been doing when I’m not selling you trimmings… 😂🐇

There were rumours on the dog walk about our local golf course.

Then a planning document appeared.

I thought, “Ooh, I’ll just have a little look.”

Unfortunately, I have a geology degree, I used to be a librarian and I really, REALLY like finding things out.

This has gone exactly as well as you might imagine.

Several months later, I know considerably more about ecology, planning, historic maps, title deeds, Environmental Impact Assessments and Freedom of Information requests than any woman who sells decorative braid for a living has any reasonable need to know.

I went down the rabbit hole. The rabbit hole had archives.

So that’s a little glimpse behind the scenes at Mokshatrim this year. 😆

Anyway…

🍂 VELVET. We were going to talk about velvet.
