1984 I was born, 1984!

It seems so long ago, yet like yesterday!

We say it all the time, but it was a simpler time, a time when things weren’t so overwhelming!

I’ve tried to give my kids as best an upbringing as I can. Lots of time outdoors, staycation holidays all around England, making memories with family, trying new things, but also the simple things like movie nights! My kids absolutely love the old classics, Jurassic Park, Kindergarten Cop, Rocky, the old Disney films like Robin Hood and The Sword In The Stone!

We laugh about the times before, when internet didn’t exist, when you picked up the phone and it was that dial up tone. How channel 5 didn’t exist, and Saturday night tv with a picky tea was the highlight of the week!

I absolutely love our family life and the traditions we have today, but that nostalgia is a feeling that warms my heart ☺️

Are we turning American? 🇺🇸

Last night we went to the Scarefest again.

We were terrorised, chased with chainsaws, death stared by 2 dead dolls and subjected to the most grotty mazes ever!

Was it big? Yep!

Was it dramatic? Yep!

Was it in your face? Yep!

Was it over the top? Defo yep!

Was it scary? Yep!

Was it fun? Oh my god, yep!

Are we going again? When do tickets go on sale for 2027?

I do think we’ve adopted some of our friends from across the ponds means of celebration and over the top traditions, but I personally love it 🎃

Is pumpkin picking in the UK a scam??

I mean I can just pop to mozzers or Asda and get half a dozen for £6.50 but no, I’d rather spend £85 for the privilege of picking my own thanks!

We’re not wired up right are we! God all mighty, I wish I had a massive field that I could sell off every autumn to all the pumpkin happy families searching high and low for that perfect orange ball 😝😝

Things I’d say to my younger self;

1. Don’t ever worry about what everyone else thinks.

2. Always be true to yourself.

3. Love your family always.

4. Don’t lose touch with school friends.

5. You’ll get through mental health issues.

6. Don’t bleach your hair blonde!

7. Make friends from all walks of life.

8. Go on those rides!

9. Enjoy life.

10. Don’t dwell on the little things.

Can we just talk about how EXPENSIVE life has become?! 😩💸

And I don’t even mean the fancy things...

I mean the weekly food shop, filling the car, a takeaway on a Friday, taking the kids out at the weekend or putting the heating on without feeling guilty 🥴

Things that used to feel NORMAL now feel like a luxury!

And apparently, the answer is always the same...
✨Cut back
✨Cancel things
✨Stop buying coffees
✨Spend less

But honestly, how much more can we cut back before we’re not actually LIVING anymore?!

That’s something I’ve been thinking about a LOT lately….

What if, instead of constantly trying to spend less, we started looking at ways to bring a little MORE money in? 👀

That’s exactly why I started. I’m a busy working mum. I knew this wasn’t going to make me a millionaire, but I also knew that there was the potential to give me a little breathing room financially.

I used the small pockets of time to learn a new skill, make connections and build a business ❤️

I’m still learning and building, but I love that I’m doing something to create more options for my future rather than just hoping things get cheaper!

Because let’s be honest... there’s only so much you can cut back on!

We deserve to enjoy the little things without feeling guilty every time we spend money.
