Took the new walnut brown crab down to the Wee Ganavan beach to get a few photos in its natural element. The details on the claws and shell came together nicely.

🌊 Finding Home

My 2 months project - A "little octopus" carved in singe piece of elm wood, making its home in an abandoned sea shell. 🌿🐚

Photographed at Ganavan Beach, where the sea, wood and imagination come together.

🐙 Finished this wee octopus today.

Every time I work with elm I'm reminded why it's my favourite. The grain has a mind of its own and always brings something special to the piece.

Pretty pleased with how this one turned out. 🌳

Fresh from the carving bench and back to the coast where the inspiration began.

This crab is carved from single piece of black american walnut, chosen for its beautiful grain, depth of colour, and character. Photographed at Wee Ganavan Beach, surrounded by rock pools and seaweed, it felt right at home 🦀🌊.

Hand-carved lizard wall piece 🦎🌿
Made from spruce on birch plywood base using both power carving and hand carving tools. The idea was to create a natural, textured look with detailed reptile scales and warm wood tones on the monstera leaf, tying the whole piece together and bringing it to life.

Still little to go, but this lizard is almost ready to crawl out of the workshop on its own. 😅 Really bumpy skin texture and I love how woodgrain shows through - not used to carving soft wood but have to admit this one worked out well ❤️🦎

Started carving a spoon… but there wasn’t mushroom left on the handle for anything else 🍄😄
Hand carved from oak and stained to bring out the grain and depth in the chanterelle-inspired carving. Really happy with how the textures and colour came together on this one.
