💧 The Sound of Water 💧

I thought I’d give myself a bit of a challenge and make a water feature!

My local art group, Art Alert, is based at Nuneaton Train Station, and our most recent exhibition was themed H2O.
I decided to embrace the theme in a slightly different way and see if I could bring “The Sound of Water” to life. 🌊

I really enjoyed making each part of this piece and watching the idea gradually come together.
Of course, it wasn’t quite as straightforward as I’d imagined!

I had to problem-solve, rethink things and change direction along the way. Thankfully, I had plenty of brainstorming support from my husband, who helped me bounce ideas around when I got stuck! 😄

It was definitely a challenge, but that’s also what made it so enjoyable. There’s something really satisfying about starting with an idea in your head and working out how to actually make it happen.

✨ What a wonderful day today at ✨

I was absolutely thrilled that my showstopper, angel** Grace**, found a new home — and even more touched to receive such a beautiful and thoughtful email from her new owner, along with this gorgeous photo of her settled into her new home. 💜

Knowing that something I created with so much love will now be cherished in someone else’s home truly means the world to me.

From the bottom of my heart, I’d like to thank every single person who purchased something from me today, and everyone who stopped by my stall for a chat, shared kind words, and showed their support.

I feel incredibly blessed to be able to create these pieces and share them with such lovely people. Thank you all so much. 💜✨

I’m so proud to be part of this exhibition at Hanbury Hall, and really pleased with the work I’ve produced for my display.

If you get the chance to visit, the exhibition is full of beautiful ceramic work from 20 different potters. It runs until 28th August, so there’s still time to come and have a look! 🏺✨

✨ Part 3 of 3 ✨

And here she is… Grace. 🤍

This is the moment I’ve been waiting for! After sculpting, glazing and the final kiln firing, I’m so pleased with how she turned out. Every stage of the process has been a learning experience, and seeing the finished piece makes it all worthwhile.

I’ve also included two of my other finished angels in this video, and I’d love to know what you think.

✨ Part 2 of 3 ✨

In this part of the journey, it’s time to glaze my ceramic angel.

For this piece, I chose a beautiful dipping glaze called Grace. As soon as I saw the name, it felt like the perfect fit for this sculpture, so “Grace” it became. 🤍

Glazing always makes me feel a little nervous because this is the moment you commit to how the piece will look. Even then, the final result remains a surprise until it’s been fired in the kiln.

✨ Part 1 of 3 ✨

Come behind the scenes as I create this beautiful ceramic angel, from sculpting the original piece through to the kiln firing.

I’m really enjoying the challenge of learning to sculpt figures and discovering each step of the creative process. Every piece teaches me something new, and it’s so rewarding to watch it all come together.

In the Flow

This collection of little angels was handmade in the flow of creativity.

Beginning with nothing more than a lump of clay and no preconceived idea of the outcome, my hands and heart worked quickly—without fear of judgement, and letting go of perfection.

It was only when I had finished that I realised each angel represented a feeling, a memory, or a quiet reminder that we are never truly alone—that we all have an angel with us, always.

Back in the studio on this beautiful spring day. Throwing on the wheel for the 1st time since October due to illness.
I still have a way to go before I’m back enjoying this space regularly but for a short time today I am soaking it all in.
