We’re pleased to share that planning permission has been approved for this exciting mixed-use redevelopment project in the commercial centre of Barkingside.

This scheme will transform the upper levels of an existing retail property to provide nine new residential units, alongside a new dedicated entrance, staircase and refuse storage accessed from the side road.

This project was first explored back in 2019, so it’s incredibly rewarding to finally see it receive approval.

A key part of the design was improving the appearance of the existing building, which currently features ageing precast concrete panels and blank street-facing elevations. We introduced a new brick-slip façade inspired by the surrounding commercial parades, along with subtle brick detailing and render panels to create a more cohesive and attractive streetscape.

Integrated balconies are set within the building envelope to provide amenity space while remaining discreet and in keeping with the area. The recessed upper floor reduces the overall massing and helps the building sit more comfortably alongside its neighbours.

We’ve had another positive outcome for our clients in Theydon Bois, with approval granted for amendments to an existing planning permission.

The updated design includes new rear and front extensions, alterations to the roof to create additional accommodation within the roof space, refreshed window arrangements, and a new front porch - all designed to improve both the appearance and functionality of the home.

The initial scheme was successfully approved, followed by a second approval with updates to the front porch and window fenestration.

As a high end residential practice, we are looking to recruit for an experienced Senior Architectural Technician to join our team in Ongar, Essex.

Working in an experienced team you will find this role to be both challenging and varied.

A high level of design ability is required to carry out feasibilities, design proposals and construction detailing as well as the running of construction projects on site.
