We are adding to our dressmaking ranges…

This week we have brought in Fiskars tailor’s shears and pinking shears. Pattern tracing paper and even two weights of iron-on interfacing!

Becca is currently loading all new goodies onto the website, so they will be order-able very shortly :)

Serious scissors are sold with the understanding that we will supply an alibi if you have to “deal” with someone who has used them to cut paper. And not to under 18s.

Here's a cheery Jess for Wednesday! She works at our local bookshop where you will find a few of our fabulous customers. They are brilliant at finding patterns and inspiration to share and for egging us on to buy new yarn! She knitted this very handy top in Alpakka Ull by which will come in useful with our less than summery weather.

Becca is catching up on a neglected project. Behold the gloriousness of “Colour Riot” from .for.victory ‘s excellent Recreating Vintage 1940s Knitwear book.

It got set aside when it became apparent that a row of a colour work stripe was missing. Hey ho, that happens.

The front and back got ripped back by about 4 inches a couple of months ago, and the back re-knitted. Then other projects came along, as they do.

This evening Colour Riot returns to the top of the work pile. An inch was knitted in no time, its amazing how quick 3.25mm needles are when you’ve been working on 2.5s!

Will it get finished this time? How well do you know Becca? Well, we shall see…

What forgotten projects have you got hidden? Will you be getting them out to have another go? You’ll be in good company :D

Happy Fair Isle Friday! Teri has been working on this vintage pullover for a while now. It's nearing completion and has been an absolute joy to knit with fabulous Shetland wool. This will be available as a kit and separate pattern with our notes and colour chart shortly. A happy colourful knit on a less than bright day! Stay dry folks! 😉

It's Thursday and the shops are shut so what Are Ewe & Ply up to? After a morning of admin, Becca is prepping for the Sashiko-Sewicals and Teri is putting some new glow-the-dark stitch markers together. On a rainy afternoon when the wool is outside drying wetter, what better way to catch up!

Good morning Shrewsbury from The Parade Shops!

The weather is decidedly mixed today, and Becca is wishing she’d brought along a bigger cardigan, but the weekend promises fair, so maybe there’ll be some dressmaking with holidays in mind…

New in for summer knitting … Crazy Cotton 4 Ply from

Teri and Becca both knitted Everyday Attitude tees (designed by ) using this yarn last year, and are so tempted to do that again.

There are a few additional colours this year, more choice and more temptation :)

On the website and in Oswestry right now, and hitting the shelves in Shrewsbury on Friday morning.

Rant Warning! Apologies to anyone attempting to contact us by telephone for the last TWO weeks. Thanks to and their inability to Listen we have had no telephone. We had a perfectly working telephone line but an internet connection that tried our patience to breaking point. We Did Not want or need a new telephone but now we have one. Witness "progress" at work. Our second hand telephone given to us by a lovely customer when we opened in Oswestry in 2019 is One Piece of plastic that plugs into our router and sits sedately (and dustily) on a shelf behind the counter. It is happy to sit there and not get itself lost somewhere in the shop like our mobile phones are apt to do. At no time has a customer been upset or put out that we have had to "put them down" while we scurry off to look for something.
Now we have been forced to have (and pay for) something we don't want or need composed of TEN pieces of plastic with a battery containing metals of limited supply that may explode (because it can at random as illustrated by the recent tragedy near our Shrewsbury shop). TWO plugs which we have no plug sockets for and a box thingy that proclaims itself to be a link that is composed of goodness knows what finite and non-recyclable components. And don't even get me started about the packaging....
I am not going to go into the amount of time it has taken to try to figure out what was going wrong with our phone line and the vexation caused by their diversion of our phone calls to my personal mobile phone which was totally unexpected (apologies to whoever tried to call me because I couldn't figure out how to answer).
Right now I am considering changing back to our original supplier.
Yes, I am a Luddite but why replace something that works with something unnecessarily complicated? We have strong ethical principles and this is a contravention of them against our wishes.
So dear Reader, what shall we do?
Answers, please on a postcard because I may put all electrical devices in a box in the cellar and run away from them (cackling).

Please accept our apologies if you have been trying to get us on the phone for the last week or so.

We had a change of online provider, and are having a hell of a job getting the landline re-connected.

BT are convinced they have fixed it, although how we have no idea as nothing has actually been done 🤷🏻‍♀️

Teri is trying to get this sorted. In the meantime we are pretty swift at responding to emails, so keep those coming.
Please note - we are Very Bad at responding to DMs via social media. Email is our favourite.

Keep your fingers crossed, we’ll get this sorted as quickly as we can.
