These are two vessels I’d previously experimented on, each using the iron in a different way. I’ve got another one on the go where I’ve combined both effects - i’ll see how that develops tomorrow!

Handcrafted Vessel in Jesmonite -

I love the naturally weathered hues that emerge from the oxidisation of the copper and iron. Especially rustic and aged pieces - so next time I will play around with the exposed iron/rust and see what more I can do with it! ✨

Large Bud Vase Vessel in soft blues and greens - created from the natural oxidisation of the metal powders embedded within the jesmonite.

The Changing Faces of a HHC Vessel 💫

Just a few of the incarnations this vessel has had!

My daughter thought it looked like a raindrop taking a big breath - hence the last pic! 👋🏻

Trial and Error…Trial and Error…

Experimenting with a new shape - A little top heavy this time, so will even that out on the next try! I’ve come to realise ‘error’ is part of the process - not really error at all, just one more way learned how not to do it!!

Extra Large Bud Vase Vessel ✨

This Jesmonite piece is hand-built, with the colours and texture being the result of the natural oxidisation of the copper and iron embedded within it.

New Look Vessel! ✨

I wasn’t happy with the last one I made, so I decided to try something different with this piece. At one point I thought I’d completely messed it up - but I actually think it turned out well in the end. Personally, I prefer the calming colours of this one 💙

Large Bud Vase Vessel

It’s so hard to capture the true depth and colour of the rust in photos, so I’ve added a couple of close-ups to show the texture.

Always a work in progress…. this piece still needs some refining. I’m thinking a smaller opening, a more rounded bottom, and maybe try one without the rust just for s&g…

Feel free to share any thoughts or suggestions - it saves me from relying solely on Joe’s feedback…win-win! 😉

Two vessels I’ve been working on recently

More experimenting - this time seeing how different colours and textures affect the overall look and balance of a piece.

I change my mind daily (maybe hourly) on which I prefer, and after staring at these two for so long (apparently trying to get a photo with a true representation of the colours is impossible) I feel like throwing them at a wall.

I’m going to get a glass of wine…goodbye

This piece is a work in progress, one of many as I experiment with new shapes and textures. After I hand build the vessel, the copper and iron within the jesmonite begin to oxidise, creating their natural patinas…more to come!
