A new chapter opens

After 54 years in the Gas Industry, proprietor of Gas Technical Services, Mr Paul Smith is retiring. He joined British Gas in 1971 as an apprentice and experienced the conversion of Towns Gas to Natural Gas. He later moved to Wales where he joined Wales Gas as a Gas Engineer and later moved into sales working out of Swansea Showroom. He then became Manager of Maesteg Gas Showroom, then Porthcawl and then Neath Showroom before being promoted to Industrial and Commercial Gas Engineer for West Wales, working from an office in the old gas works in Haverfordwest. In 1994 he left British Gas and formed Gas Technical Services which has run successfully for 31 years, and has trained many apprentices over that time. He wishes to thank all of his customers and dedicated staff for their commitment and support over the years and knows that they will be well looked after as he hands the business over to the capable hands of Lee Davies of Innovative Gas Services and The Heat Hub. Lee has a similar background to Paul as they both started their working lives in British Gas. Ironically, Lee came to Gas Technical Services many years ago on work experience before leaving school. Who would guess that the same young man would later be the proud owner of the business that got him interested in the gas industry in the first place. Paul will work closely with Lee for a short time, to ensure a seamless takeover making sure all of our customers get the best of service through the transition and beyond.

The Installation of a Gazco Riva 2600 yesterday in Lamphey by Keith and Deon.
A bit of knocking out been done here and a lintel installed. A new Flue Liner dropped down and Fire Installed.
All ready for the other trades to come in and complete plastering and flooring.

Yesterdays Installation completed by Keith and Deon.

The old Fire was removed and the fireplace opening was widened. A new hearth was fitted before the Flue hole was drilled to take the new Balanced Flue. A matching Backpanel was fitted along with a Calgary White Mantel before completing the Install with a Gazco Logic HE.
All ready for the Winter Season.

Another unsafe Class 1 Chimney safely removed by our team and regraded to a Class 2 flue. This one was in Roch, and we worked along side the builders who had called us in to advise and assist. It is important to ensure that the gas fire fitted below can be fitted into the correct category of flue. In this case the fire was able to be fitted to both class 1 and 2 flues. Well done Carwyn and Deon for a good job.
