Very interesting watch on the modern piano industry and how much of the market is controlled by a surprisingly small number of manufacturers and distributors.

It focuses mainly on the American market, but many of the same trends exist here in the UK too.

Worth a watch for anyone buying a piano or interested in the trade.

Walk into almost any piano store in America, and you might think you have an overwhelming number of choices. Hundreds of brands. Dozens of models. A world of options. But you do not have as much choice as you might think. Three brands control roughly 80 percent of every specialized piano showroom in the United States. And it goes deeper than that. Much deeper.
