I’m Absolutely delighted to meet Chloe and her lovely daughter Nina from and very honoured to be stockists of these fabulous handwoven baskets 🧺 and bags which are available to buy now at Weaver Antiques.

‘Dada Duka is a fair trade accessories brand founded in 2015
by Hampshire-born Chloe Bartron.

What began as a small initiative quickly grew in demand, thanks to the beauty and craftsmanship of their vibrant, handwoven African bags and baskets. Within just five years, Dada Duka expanded to employ over 150 women across Kenya.

The name Dada Duka, meaning “sister shop” in Swahili, reflects Chloe’s vision: to empower women while fostering hope, confidence, and independence.

Every Dada Duka piece is handwoven by skilled women artisans, not mass-produced in factories. These traditional weaving techniques are passed down through generations, preserving cultural heritage and craftsmanship while creating meaningful, contemporary designs.

For Sale. A rare collection of 3 Uzbekistan Ghudjeri. To be sold individually or as a collection.

Known locally as ghudjeri, these highly decorated kilims were made for domestic use by nomadic Uzbeks in northern Afghanistan and Uzbekistan in the villages to the west of Mazar-i-Sharif, near Balkh and Aq Chah, (A. Hull, and J.Luczyc-Wyhowska, Kilim, The Complete Guide, London, 1993, pp.264-5, fig.504). They were woven in long bands, cut into strips between 160cm. and 210cm. in length and then sewn together in the same way as a Persian jajim. The decoration is warp-faced, with long loose warps at the back and their ornamentation points to a pre-lslamic, shamanistic source filled with complex, ancient motifs. The dramatic patterns that alternate in direction and colour create an exuberant display of vibrancy. Previously unclassified, Dr. Claudius Giese explored this group of Central Asian flat weaves in an exhibition, ‘The Unknown Uzbek Ghudjeri-Kilim’, held in 2002 at the Ethno-Textil Gallery in Bremen, where fifty examples woven between 1850-1950 were on display, (HALI, Issue 121, p.125).

For Sale. A rare ivory ground, third quarter 19th century Afshar tribal rug from the Kerman province, Southern Persia. The overall ivory field depicts the ‘dragon & phoenix’ design.
The rug pile has wonderful natural dyed colours with areas of oxidation/corrosion to the natural brown dye.

Size: 1.31m x 1.24m (4’ 4” x 4’ 1).

For Sale: A framed Oil on canvas by Emily Beatrice Bland (1864–1951)

Emily Beatrice Bland was a Painter, especially of flowers in oil, studied at Lincoln School of Art, then at the Slade School of Fine Art under Henry Tonks and Fred Brown, 1892–4. Exhibited RA, NEAC, Fine Art Society, Goupil Gallery, Ridley Art Club, SWA and elsewhere. Chantrey Bequest bought her Striped Camellias and Yachts at Lymington, both now in the Tate Gallery. Other British and some overseas galleries hold her work. A prolific painter, she had her first one-man show at the Leicester Galleries in 1922. Lived in London.

For Sale, a Superb John Maltby 1936-2020, Cup Form Circa 1990 with Maltby makers name to base.

Another example of this John Maltby design ‘Boat White Moon and Stars’ is held in the V&A collection on a Tankard with inlaid black lines used instead of the white lines used in this cup form.

Height: 13cm x Width 10cm

John Maltby (15 July 1936 – 22 December 2020) was a distinguished English sculptor and studio potter. He was apprenticed to David Leach for two years before setting up his own pottery near Crediton in Devon. After surgery in 1996 left him too weak to make pots, Maltby began to create small ceramic sculptures.
