Turns out we’ve been confusing people! 😂

‘Barneby Gates’ isn’t a man. It’s two very old friends — Vanessa Barneby and Alice Gates — who have known each other since we were 10.

We grew up in the same village, went off and had completely different careers, and somehow ended up starting a wallpaper and fabric company together.

Nearly 20 years in, we’re still friends, still working together and, remarkably, still not arguing.

Long may it continue.

Ely Cathedral - wow wow WOW! Built originally as a monastery by Saxon Queen Etheldreda in 673 AD, before being rebuilt in Norman style starting 1083. Known as the ‘Ship of the Fens’ it literally rises up out of nowhere on the horizon as you approach it on the A10 from Cambridge. I can’t believe I didn’t know about it before yesterday when we journeyed up there to see our daughter singing in an incredible performance of Handel’s Saul with Gabrieli, to a full cathedral of people (see slide 3) - utterly magnificent! So many inspirational details on the ceiling, definitely worth a zoom in of uou can - completely breathtaking all round.

Good Morning! Our new Indian Elephant wallpaper is our reinterpretation of an antique textile remnant from Varanasi, with our own addition of little 🐘. It is so intricate it is almost impossible to capture in a photograph - the colours, the detail - you need to see it in reality to really get it! It comes in two colour ways - Vintage Blue (above) and Blush/chocolate - do shout if you’d like to see any samples. And pls excuse the slightly wobbly filming 😂
