We were SO delighted to hear the wonderful news this week that has been bought by the brilliant visionary Christopher Bailey. It’s been so devastating to hear of the closure of other Stoke potteries, and Burleigh really is the last of its kind and something to be treasured.
Today we’re looking back with pride on the collaboration we did with Burleigh in 2023, transposing their delicate tissue-transfer designs onto wallpapers. We used traditional Gravure rollers to mimic the detail of their hand-engraved copper cylinders, producing two designs - Calico and Asiatic Pheasant - based on their collections of the same name. I grew up with it on our kitchen dresser at home, and the Asiatic Pheasant was my wedding crockery set - so this is something very close to my heart! Congratulations 👏 👏 WONDERFUL NEWS! Xx

On Wednesday we welcomed our friend and brilliant interior designer , alongside .kime of Country Life, to the studio for an intimate gathering in support of - who do extraordinary work creating healing homes for women and children rebuilding their lives after escaping domestic abuse.
It was a pleasure to open our doors to a wonderful group of interiors enthusiasts- designers, artists, collectors & friends - for a thoughtful conversation about sympathetic decoration. Together, we explored how to create interiors that express the personality of their inhabitants, while honouring and preserving the unique character and history of a house - as well as touching upon the transformative powers of wallpaper, of course! The morning was filled with inspiring ideas, lively discussion, and a shared appreciation for thoughtful, characterful design, all in support of a cause close to our hearts.
It also gave us an excuse to wear our new BG uniform (any excuse!) - jackets beautifully made by our friend Sophie in our Folk Stripe fabric 👯‍♀️ see second pic!

YOU ARE INVITED to an intimate studio talk with and .kime Weds 3rd June, 10am 🕙 in aid of ~ HOW TO DECORATE A HOME AND KEEP ITS CHARACTER ~
We’d love you to join interior designer Lucy Cunningham and Vanessa and Alice of Barney Gates, in conversation with Country Life’s Giles Kime, to understand the secret of sympathetic decoration that reflects your personality - or that of a client - without banishing the distinctive personality of a house. While discussing recent projects in Wiltshire, Hampshire, Cornwall and the Cotswolds, the panel will highlight the opportunities and pitfalls of getting it right.
Following the talk, you are invited on an optional house tour of the Grade II listed Rectory Alice has recently finished decorating, just next door to the studio. Having been in her husband’s family for generations, the personality of this particular house was quite something to respect!
