We are hoping for some exciting news for the team at Westcountry Tile & Bathroom.

Our Plymouth showroom has been named a finalist for Bathroom Showroom of the Year & Independent Bathroom Retailer of the Year at the upcoming 2026 BKU Awards.....and the winners are announced on Friday evening!!

This follows our previous independent retail wins in 2019 and 2023, and it means a massive amount to everyone here.

When Jamie started this business, the goal was simple.

Is a wet room right for your property?

We get asked this question almost every week in our Plymouth showroom, and the answer usually depends on your flooring and drainage setup.

A properly installed wet room is completely watertight, makes a small space feel much larger, and provides level-access showering that lasts for decades.

Here are four key things that make a wet room design work perfectly in a West Country home:

First, the gradient is everything. The floor must slope precisely towards the drain to ensure water clears quickly, especially with high-flow showerheads.

Second, full tanking is essential. We apply a continuous waterproof barrier across the entire floor and walls before a single tile is laid. Third, large-format tiles reduce grout lines, creating a spacious feel while making the surface much easier to keep clean.

Finally, underfloor heating is not just a luxury. It warms your feet on cold mornings and helps dry out the floor tiles quickly after use.
