Ryan Coombes Designs C & R Lampshades was established in 1994 and stems from a family business which was started over 50

We hand craft bespoke lampshades from conception to finished product. At our frame workshop we can create frames of any shape and size which are then taken to our working showroom where the covering is done. The shades can be covered in a wide variety of materials including silk, card or a fabric supplied by the client. We can convert vases, bottles and anything else suitable to create your own unique individual showpiece just contact us with specific details.

Charlotte perfected dyeing our range of silks through lots of trail and error. With most of the info being in her head and the other half in a notepad… it was fun trying to figure out the other half of the equation 🤪😅 dying shantung in a washing machine isn’t for the faint hearted but I think we nailed it!

Today we say goodbye to the legend and Mother of C & R Lampshades, Charlotte Anne Ryan-Coombes.

Charlotte and Tom began their journey together 32 years ago, creating the most beautiful and classic lampshades for various customers from top designers, movie sets, Royalty, overseas and everyday customers.

From a younge age, Charlotte had a natural flare for all things creative. In her spare time she’d make clothes and jewellery, paint, wood burn designs, tend to her garden and of course crafted the best lampshades, she knew she was the best, she was proud of that and rightly so.

She was a unique, cheeky, colourful, fiery and warm person. One in a million. A wonderful wife, daughter, sister, auntie, cousin and friend to many, loved by everyone that knew her and always will be.

We will do our absolute best to continue her legacy and maintain the highest quality of work that she can be eternally proud of.

We love and miss you Charlotte. Until we meet again, rest peacefully and keep the Buds chilled.
