Since starting the cars and coffee day we've spoken to many many people, and get asked if we drive something cool, answer to that question is no not really, it's more practical.. 🤣 The next question is 'do you like cars?', here's the answer to that question, I'll keep it short-ish.. 🤣
Starting as a kid I was into F1 with the likes of lauda, senna, Schumacher. We would quite often go off to hill climb events, banger races around Plymouth. During the 80s - 90s it became BTCC managing to get to Silverstone for one of the BTCC race weekends in 1997, and hospitality from the ginnettas at Thruxton around 2016.
Now I'm old enough to drive and became one of the first people to have their licence revoked under the earn 6 points rule.. 😣🤣 Second tests and got the licence back, by the time I was 21 I had a car for every day of the week - 67 beetle, 72 beetle, 77 mk1 golf, mk2 transit, 97 2.5 V6 omega, mk2 es**rt, golf clipper gti.
I didn't have a specific brand just loved the styling or engineering.
2013 saw a holiday to Italy where 2 of us visited monza race track, trento - Mt bondone hillclimb, drove the road from the intro of quantum of solice, visited the ferrari museum, Enzo museum - it was an F1 display and had a lot of cars from many years, including lauda, mansell etc, had a lamborghini factory tour, a pagani factory tour, visited the mille miglia museum, oh and of course drive from riva del garda to davos in Switzerland via the stelvio.
Our museum visits continue, Haynes Motor Museum, Brooklands Museum etc and now hosting our own cars and coffee days bringing out all those cool and modified cars still on the road which I Iove to see.
By now you've all met my cousin Stuart Ayres and his celica, and hopefully made a few more friends along the way. I will continue the cars and coffee days for as long as I can.

Just checked the weather for Sunday's cars and coffee day, and it's looking good, with Karl coming along with 'poppy', Royal British Legion will be along, plenty of parking on the estate.
Come along show some support, have a coffee/sausage sarnie at The Hideaway Cafe at Faraday Mill, grab a cookie from Bubbles 'n' Bakes at number 13.
If you're coming for the event please do not park in front of Plymouth Reptiles, leave this area for their customers as they may be collecting larger items.

This week's ProjectMotorRacing factory driver challenge is 'the most wanted' I'm guessing an homage to 'need for speed - most wanted' with the e46 M3 GTR as the iconic cover car. This however is the race version with no ABS or traction control, the track is the red bull ring, or speilberg ring in the game due to no licence.. 😣🤦🏻🤣
After quite a few laps of spinning out I finally got the set up near enough.. I could've tuned it more but ran out of enthusiasm, running a 1:33.845 and coming ranked at 92 out of... 🤷🏻‍♂️ Still no idea on that one, and still no idea if I beat the target time.

Today I mounted 1 out of 3 new solar panels, all by myself.. 🤣
Yep that's 2 ladders and block and tackle now at 4:1 rather than 8:1
Not looking forward to the 2 panels higher up 🙈🙈
The new invertor can handle 1400w so 3 x 415w panels are going up, the fourth (older) is 425w and will go through the older charge controller as it's a hybrid wind & solar, solely for charging the batteries.
All this to keep the fish tanks running off grid for as long as possible.

Spent a couple evenings playing ProjectMotorRacing, it's been a while.. And with update after update after update it's getting better, however I did need to reset my steering sensitivity.
I had a go at the factory driver challenge, these are apparently real times set by real drivers, however, there's no description so I don't know who the driver was and don't know what time they set.. 🤦🏻
Anywho.. The double four challenge is at sebring, a challenging track as the last corner, main straight and first corner are bumpy and if the car is too hard it will skip over the bumps losing traction and sending you wide.
But here's me in the BMW M4 GT4 EVO with a time of 1:09.839 ranking me at 107 out of??.. I have no idea 🤷🏻‍♂️ the leader board is a bit naff as you don't have a filter choice so you can't see where you rank against friends.. 🤦🏻 And no idea if I beat the real drivers time.. 🤷🏻‍♂️🤦🏻

That's the RAF Harrowbeer 1940s day done, and potentially Royal British Legion Crownhill, Plymouth-Branch may be joining us for our cars and coffee day on the 6th September along with another allied car.
