Blue Hill Flora We are a small cut flower farm based at Brynglas Farm just outside Pontardawe South Wales.

We grow beautiful seasonal cut flowers for florists and the public, providing bouquets and running workshops.

Anyone else like to be super organised and are already planning for Christmas? I may have already started my Christmas shopping šŸ«£ I know it feels to early but there are only 108 days until Christmas! We all want a beautiful wreath on the door to brighten up the gloom so I'm going to get our wreath workshops tickets up on the website on Sunday morning. So pop it in your diary if you want to book a spot as I've only got two dates planned this year.

We are heading into another really busy time on the farm. As we are still cutting what blooms the field has left after the drought I'm also busy with seed sowing, pricking out, planting out and getting the field ready to be bursting with blooms for spring 2027. There are never enough hours in the day at this time of year!

Little throw back to this very autumnal feeling giant vase birthday arrangement I created last year. Sadly the dahlias are really struggling this year. I think it might be time to lift them, divide them and give the soil a revamp for next year.

A classic blue and white palette for a vow renewal that went out last week.
I love blue and white though blue is always a tricky colour to grow. I never seem to manage to grow enough so I dry a lot of blue eryngium and statice just in case. So these were a mix of dried blue flowers and fresh white flowers. I love blending fresh a dried together as you can then take the dried flowers out to keep long past your special day.

I love making buttonholes. Each one unique and special. A perfect little bouquet of colour and texture. They do t just have to go on a suit jacket either. They can brighten up a bag or even a hat to.

All the moody autumnal feeling colours for this bouquet. We have even had a couple of chilly mornings this last week that needed a jumper! I have to say I am very much looking forward to autumn this year and getting to feel all cosy in front of the log burner with a hot chocolate again. Are you looking forward to autumn? A little bit about my last wedding at one of my favourite venues barnatbrynich
This was a challenging one for me with the drought really taking its toll on the field. I just didnā€™t have the quantity of flowers I needed in the field so it was time to reach out to my amazing floral community. So many of the other growers in Wales are in the same boat so I looked to British wholesalers (snapdragons) and (Alstromeria).
I also ended up ordering in a few things from Holland as a last resort. Itā€™s not something I like to do but I will never let my brides down.
Iā€™ve got copious notes and plans in place to help try to make sure this doesnā€™t happen again next year but who knows what will happen. All we can do is our best!
