The side of an LVT install that you don't see, thankfully! ⚠️
When buying a brand-new build, you expect everything to be perfect under the surface.
Unfortunately, that’s rarely the reality. We want to make it clear we're not knocking new build estates there are some very good ones out there, and this is an exceptional worst-case scenario.
We're currently working on a new build estate (we won’t name the developer, but they are a very well-known national builder and it rhymes with Carrot Chrome), and this is the "finished" subfloor we were greeted with!
We found exposed rough breezeblocks right at the front door threshold and huge, crumbly trenches full of debris left around the perimeters and patio doors.
So if any fitter, whether that's one we use or a fitter from elsewhere, just installs Luxury Vinyl Tile (LVT) straight over this, the floor will fail, crack, and lift within months, if not days.
That's why it's essential to do your homework when shopping about for LVT and don't just go for the cheapest quote.
