It's our Yarnmanglers road trip this weekend to the The Wool Monty so the shop will be closed on Friday afternoon (12 June). Neither Ruth nor Jenny will be in but Bridget will be holding the fort for us on Saturday.

Rachel has just been in from Rushmoor Farm in the Vale of Glamorgan with a batch of her wonderful shetland wool. It's blended from the fleece of the farm's first five shetland sheep and is wonderfully soft and bouncy. We don't have a huge amount of it but you can make a Sophie scarf with less than 100g (although I can see a jumper with red or teal colourwork!).

If you would like to make a really special project from local yarn, it is available in the shop or our online store at £32.00/100g

Is it too early to use the festive word? Stylecraft has just launched its Christmas Sock yarn for 2026. There are six new colours added to their range and they all have added sparkle ready for celebrations.
While the names of the yarns are definitely Christmas themed, they don't have to be saved for Christmas socks and there are nine free patterns over on the Stylecraft website which use the yarn for jumpers and shawls as well as socks. We love the cute little baby waistcoats which only take one ball in all but the biggest size.

At £7.95 for 100g with 400m on the ball, it's a great price and is available in the shop or from our online store.

Tunisian Crochet is an enigma -- it has crochet in the name and uses an oversized hook but produces finished fabrics that look more like knitting . If you are intrigued and would like to learn more, book a place on our two-week beginners course in July. You'll find out how to work Tunisian, create basic shaping and how to follow a pattern and charts.
Book in person in the shop, by phone or on our online-store with a £20.00 deposit

Lots of our customers love the crochet tops that Jenny has made for various family weddings all in Stylecraft Naturals Cotton Bamboo. A particular favourite is the multi-coloured 'Charmed' top (pictured) from Inside Crochet 168 so we are running a workshop to show how this method of join as you go works. We've designed a new motif around which the session will be based and will have lots of advice on colours to choose and types of yarn.
The workshop will be on Saturday 20 June from 1.30 till 3.30pm and can be booked online or in the shop with a £20.00 deposit. The total cost of the session is £50.00.

I've been busy testing yarns by making baby garments. The latest one to show on the blocking board is the Charlie Baby Cardigan Jacket by Marianna Mel which can be found on Ravelry. I made the cropped jacket in a newborn size and it took a smidgeon less than 50g of Little Lamb from King Cole. Marianna's website has lots of small baby patterns together with some which can be used as doll patterns.

The yarn was launched by King Cole this week and we'll have it in the shop and online store next week. It is 60% wool, 40% polyamide and is ideal if you like wool but also like the smoothness of synthetics. This one is lovely and soft and bouncy and has no itch. It retails at £4.99/50g and there are ten colours to choose from .
