💕🎂🥂 HAPPY 15th BIRTHDAY GENIUS PORT 🥂🎂💕

It’s hard to believe we made it to 15 years of Genius 💕

This year it sort of slipped us by…so sadly no balloons 🎈bubbles 🥂 flowers 🌸 bunting or celebrations 🎉

So this is a post to thank all our loyal customers all along the years that have kept the business thriving, growing and to all the gang that’s been part of Team Genius 💗 young and old (some we still can’t get rid of 😜 Alaw) 🙌

A very short history of Genius….

The name came from the endearing nick name the lovely older amazing staff at EWM gave Carys as the best VM and Manager ever 🤩😄🥰

We started small….it soon became apparent it was too small, sometimes it got so overwhelming we locked the door and hid under the counter to eat cakes 🧁🍰 so we expanded, we went up and then up again ⬆️ ⬆️ customers loved looking out of level 3 windows and enquired was the attic the next move! 😄

We opened Genius Pwllheli 💗 (that’s another story)

We survived Covid…we’re so lucky many businesses did not 🥲

Sadly through no fault of the business we had to relocate….we couldn’t go up this time so we bloody well went down ⬇️
the dreary, creepy cellar became the best nautical room ever 🐳 🐚 ✨

We’ve had so many van adventures, moving stock, building gear for restorations, expansions & staff taxi 🩶

We’ve lost count of how many trade show jolly’s we’ve been too, how many new companies we’ve seen and ordered from, how many lovely agents and reps we’ve met and made lasting friendships with 💞

We’ve sold all kinds of stock, from quirky, naughty, beautiful to one offs that we’ve cried when they’ve sold 😅 and by now we refuse to sell some sentimental items 🫢 crazy we know…is it really a shop at all! 😂💞

Contrary to my opinion bigger doesn’t always mean better… where we are now is the best, we might be slightly smaller but the business is stronger and better than ever before…. we are happier and for that we have the beautiful customers we serve each and every day to thank for 💝🙌

So a very HUGE heartfelt Thank You to everyone that comes through our door, even if it’s to say hi or comment how much they love Genius 💝

🌸 Both shops will be closed next Monday 16th of March 🌸

My lovely, kind hearted, brave Mum sadly passed away on the 21st of February at 89 years old..… and what a warrior she was…having gone through 2 major heart surgeries 💕 30 plus years ago along with a long list of some other serious ailments…

She loved Genius…in fact she was the inspiration to the pink that you see throughout both stores, our bags, uniforms etc…it was her colour 💕🌸💕

Whenever I faltered, had doubts, should we open another shop, should we re-open when Port had to close……… she would be there encouraging me, make me proud she’d say as you always do, don’t ever be beaten! she was my quiet strength 💗

She raised my three children enabling me to work and later open Genius, I could ride my horses when the kids were small as she was always there to care for them, she did everything from school runs, swimming lessons, friends birthday parties 🥳 I would just pop in to show willing every now and again…seriously 🫢

Mother’s Day was easy..she’d say bring me a new smell, or what bracelets have you got new that I’d like…sadly there won’t be another for me 😞

When you’ve defied the odds and gained 30 yrs of extra time it’s hard to be sad, we are truly grateful and we can only thank her for been the quiet fighter she was and now celebrate her life and thank her for been the very best mum, and grandmother anyone could ask for…she will be forever missed by us all 💕💗💕

We say our final goodbyes on Monday
