Kenya’s work is rooted in exploring the diversity of Black womanhood and the beauty in narratives that have been overlooked by society. The Black women in her artwork mirror figures in her community and signify women's empowerment and self-love. Through her work, she explores dance, movement, joy and human connection experienced in daily life. Kenya's work depicts the rich colours of the Caribbean

reflecting her Jamaican and Guyanese heritage. She is hugely influenced by handwoven textiles, nature and Brazilian naive art. She intends for each painting to be a celebration of culture.

Two Dancers, 2026

Inspired my Two Dancers, 1937, by Henri Matisse. I wanted to keep a similar colour palette and convey a similar message of intimacy and boldness but through my own painting style.

This is my first finished painting since giving birth. I finished this it exactly one year after I went into labour. was so worried I wouldn’t be able to painting again earlier this year but I can finally feel my spark coming back

One of the first paintings I sold

I painted it after work in my living room when I was working full time at a music company. I was unhappy at that job and this painting it opened a lot of doors for me. It’s good to remind myself of these things I’ve created as 4 months after having a baby i tend to feel like I’m slacking and I forget some of the things I’ve achieved
