✨The Baby Beat, Preston Garden Of Reflection Opening✨

Last Friday I was very grateful and honoured to have been invited back by lancshospitals to celebrate the opening of the Baby Beat garden space at Royal Preston Hospital.

This was a moment I’ll always remember, as I was able to meet the staff and families first hand and see the impact the new space will have.

ITV Granada Reports were also there capturing the opening and I have a recording that I’ll hopefully be able to share with you all soon.

The most important thing for me as a designer is knowing that a space I’ve helped create might be somewhere someone in need of it can visit and have time out to feel whatever they need to feel whilst here.

The staff working here everyday are incredible at what they do and my work is nothing in comparison to the level of support they provide.

Having spent many years working in a clinical environment and seeing the impact of mental health struggles as part of my previous role, this project will always be something I’m grateful to have been a part of. 🩷

Colour isn’t just about making a room look pretty.

Colour can influence how we experience a space, how we feel within it and even how we behave within our environment.

This is one of the reasons colour is such a huge part of the way I approach interior design.

As an ex-scientist, I’ve always been fascinated by the research behind colour theory, but I also know that there isn’t a single colour that will make everyone feel the same way.

Your experiences, memories and preferences are unique to you and that’s why colour is so personal.

That’s why I love to help my clients find their colour confidence! It can change your life and how you feel within your home, workplace or environment anywhere.

My Office Was Created On a Tight Budget.

If you’re on a budget too, here’s a few tips for keeping costs down whilst renovating.

Tip 1 - plan everything before spending a Penny. Having a clear vision of your end goal is the best way to keep on track with your spending.

Tip 2- When on a budget, paint is your best friend!

If you’re anything like me…you probably love expensive wallpaper too. I couldn’t justify the £120 roll I loved so decided to get creative instead.

I know painting murals isn’t for everyone BUT all I’ll say is don’t be scared to get creative and give things a try. You might even surprise yourself when it turns out better than you think,

Use a stencil pattern if you don’t feel confident to paint freehand. Or if that’s too much, just have fun with plain blocks of colours.

3. UP-CYCLE WHERE YOU CAN.

You don’t always need to buy everything brand new.

This could be a charity shop find, something you already own, or even an IKEA hack like I did here.

This is actually an IKEA PAX wardrobe and a set of ALEX drawers that I up-cycled, before hiring a carpenter to make the whole thing look fitted.

Add some paint, new handles and a bit of creativity and something pretty ordinary can suddenly feel completely bespoke.

Creating a home you love isn’t necessarily about having the biggest budget.

It’s about knowing where to spend, where to save and how to make what you do have work harder for you.

Save this for your next room revamp inspiration if you’re trying to keep the costs down too 🙌🏻🩷.

I won’t tell you what’s on trend or make your home look like everyone else’s.

I won’t impose my style onto you.

✨Hospital Mural Reveal✨

It’s finally here and I’m soooo excited to share these clips with you all!!

Swipe all the way to the end to see a full view of each wall and how they looked before.

It’s taken me just over 6 weeks to paint this 4 wall design and I’ve worked soooo hard to get it finished.

We’ve had rain, plastic tents and gazebos some days 🫣😂 but thankfully many more sunny and dry days to ensure it was finished in time for the official opening next week.

I really hope this mural will bring a welcoming, calm and reflective feel to this space for anyone needing it.

The staff within this incredible hospital both on the wards and working behind the scenes do so much to support families and patients here everyday.

I’m beyond grateful to Lancashire Teaching Hospitals Charity and Baby Beat, Preston for allowing me to play a small part in bringing this area together 🩷

THE HOSPITAL MURAL WILL BE FINISHED TOMORROW! 🎉

This has definitely been my biggest mural design challenge so far BUT I’ve absolutely loved painting it and feel soooo incredibly grateful to have played a small part in creating something for this very special area within Preston Hospital.

I’ve sort of disappeared from Instagram over the last week because I’ve been working super hard to get everything finished.

So before I share the full reveal, here are a few little behind the scenes sneak peeks from the final stages of painting.

The Full Circle Moment I Never Expected

Little honest reflection post on here today 🩷

When I was first asked to paint this mural back in July, I hadn’t realised quite how emotional and personal it would feel bringing it to life.

10 years ago, my daughter was born prematurely at 33 weeks at this exact hospital and ward. I developed a rare form of pre-eclampsia called HELLP syndrome and although it was pretty terrifying at times, we always felt incredibly grateful and so lucky for the experience we had at Preston Hospital.

This makes being part of this project feel even more special to me, and it’s almost surreal that my business has somehow brought me back here to paint and bring this design to life. 🩷

Baby Beat, Preston supports babies, mums and families at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals. They fund specialist equipment, provide clinical care and bereavement support, and are dedicated to improving the environments people spend time in during some of the most important and difficult moments of their lives.

I’m beyond thankful to be a part of this and just wanted to share a little about this incredible charity and the work it does.
