Thinking about renovating?
Here’s 5 tips to get you started… 🩷

1. Don’t rush the planning.
Make the right decisions now to save yourself hassle (and potentially money) further down the line.

2. Get really clear about what you love.
Understanding your style on a deeper level is game changing. You’ll doubt yourself less and make decisions with confidence.

3. Order the samples.
Look at them in your actual space. See how they work in the light. Notice how they make you feel.

4. Never make decisions in isolation.
You need to see how everything works together to create a successful scheme.

5. And most importantly…
Don’t forget to have fun. 🩷

Renovating your home doesn’t need to feel overwhelming. Give yourself time, trust your instincts and enjoy creating a space that feels like you.

If you’re new here, I’m Jen, an interior designer and mural artist based in Preston, Lancashire who specialises in feel-good interiors. Someone told me last week that they’d copied a room from Pinterest…exactly as it looked in the creators home.

That made me feel a little sad.

Not because I think there’s anything wrong with being inspired by Pinterest. I absolutely love this platform too, but I couldn’t help but think…

“I hope you added something personal that makes it feel like it’s yours”

Finding inspiration is a huge part of any successful design project, but don’t forget that your home should reflect you, your personality and your story.

My office (as featured in Lancashire Life magazine 🤣) is full of things that make me happy — colour, pattern, flowers, plants, personal mural artwork and little details that might not make sense in anyone else’s space.

And that’s exactly how I want my clients to feel about their homes.

Not “I’ve recreated the room I saw online.”

But…“This feels completely like me.”

That’s where I think the magic of interior design really happens.

I’d love to hear your thoughts on this…

Do you agree or would you copy a room exactly as it is? And if you did…were you happy with the end result?

“From Crime Scenes to Colour Schemes”

Being featured within the latest September edition of is such a huge pinch me moment.

Thank you Lancashire Life Magazine and journalist Laura Wells for taking the time to write the article and share more about my business journey so far.

The article talks about my transition from a 15 year career as a forensic scientist to founding my own interior design business back in November 2024.

It feels a little uncomfortable saying it out loud, but I’m going to say it anyway 😅🫣! I’m proud of my journey so far and have absolutely loved all of it.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s not always been easy! But I feel so grateful to have experienced the highs and lows, and lucky to have met the loveliest people, clients and friends along the way.

I also couldn’t talk about my business journey without mentioning my incredible mentor who has supported and taught me so much - thank you Jo 🩷

For any new designers out there, I’d highly recommend Jo’s IntoDesign platform for continued support, learning and growth 🩷.

Make sure you go and pick up a copy of Lancashire Life magazine and have a read of the full article, which also shares some tips for adding more colour into your home and advice for finding interior inspiration.
