🧸 A little bear with a big transformation! 🧸
Now, this type of bear isn’t something I would usually take on, but when I made a baby bear for this lovely family’s second daughter, her big sister decided her original bear, made around 10 years ago, needed a little makeover too! 🥰
She wasn’t happy with how her original bear looked and wanted it recreated in the same style as her little sister’s. So, of course, I accepted the challenge! 💪🧵
First things first, I had to completely unpick the original bear to see what I was working with. Now, I have to say, the original bear was actually really well sewn by its original maker ❤️ It had clearly been very well loved over the years, but the construction and finish were just a little different to how I make mine.
Once I opened it up, I discovered there was no interfacing inside. Interfacing is what I use to give my bears extra stability and help them hold their shape. And the stuffing? Well, let’s just say it had all ended up in the head! 😂 The rest of the bear was definitely in need of some extra padding, so I got to work redistributing and adding plenty of stuffing before hard-stuffing the rest to give it that lovely, firm shape.
Honestly, you would NOT believe how much stuffing goes into one of my bears! 🤣🧸 It takes far more than you might imagine to get them looking just right.
I also moved a few of the fabric placements around to get the look we were aiming for, and I’m so pleased to say the family were really happy with the outcome! 🥹❤️
It just goes to show that sometimes a little unpicking, a lot of stuffing and a bit of crafty determination can give a much-loved memory a whole new lease of life!
Thank you for trusting me with such a special bear. Every bear has a story, and it’s a privilege to help keep those memories going. 🧸❤️
