A shocking study has discovered that microplastics are CONTAMINATING bees.

They are coating bees' wings and bodies, infiltrating the nectar they feed on and getting lodged in their digestive systems, causing serious health problems. Microplastics are EVERYWHERE - this cannot go on.

But in 2026 we have a once in a generation chance to end microplastic pollution for good with a new legally binding Global Plastic Treaty. Tell the government to negotiate the strongest Treaty possible by signing our urgent petition ๐Ÿ‘‰ https://act.gp/4smu6yu

When youโ€™d like to live in a cathedral but you only have a tiny bathroom ventโ€ฆ

During the process of rehoming a small colony of honey bees I noticed these tiny โ€˜stained glass windowsโ€™. ๐Ÿ˜

The bees had been trying to reduce the air-flow into their nest by filling the holes with propolis (a glue-like substance made by bees for sealing and filling gaps). The propolis may be practical, but I think it looks rather stylish too!

The owners of the house are doing a renovation and found the bees when they removed the bathroom vent cover. The bees are being safely rehomed into a larger hive where they can grow their colony - an upgrade from this cramped (and draughty!) vent. Home improvements all-round!

Can you spot a bee in each purple crocus? ๐Ÿ

I planted these bulbs in a pot in front of my house, and this morning I found that these three flowers contained three different species of bee! A perfect example of how even one flower pot can be a lifeline for emerging bees after weeks of wet weather. Plant flowers and bees will come. ๐ŸŒท๐ŸŒธ๐ŸŒป

Ivy is sometimes seen as a bit of a pest, but it is one of the very last food-sources for pollinating insects before winter sets in. This ivy was buzzing with life today (20th October 2025), feeding many species of bee (including bumblebees, honeybees and ivy mining bees), hover-flies, butterflies and wasps. Donโ€™t be too hasty in tidying up your ivy - wait until after itโ€™s flowered to ensure maximum foraging time! ๐Ÿ
