Bespoke Boeing Business Jet

Colour, material and texture are fundamental ingredients for any successful design. These elements combine with the forms and volumes of the interior to provoke an emotional response. At the start of every project these materials, colours and finishes are at the heart of the design process. Choosing an appropriate palate and material selection is vital to ensure that the outcome is not only attractive but represent the clients brand or personality.

The brief for this project was to update a well-used and worn Boeing BBJ interior with a modern, timeless design akin to the ultra-luxury hotels that are also owned by our client. To elevate the interior beyond a standard refurbishment and epitomise the brand and values of our client.

We designed everything from bespoke seats, new side-ledges with the latest in cabin management and entertainment systems, new carpets to updated bathrooms and galleys. Our client was delighted with the result. The refurbished aircraft is due to be completed this year.

We have an extensive reference library of the latest certified materials, for use in all aerospace and automotive applications. Global 7000 Marketing Prototype – Launched EBACE 2014

Wow 10 years, where have they gone! A fabulous collaboration with the design and engineering teams at Bombardier. Happy memories to look back on, with lots of stories for discussion over a few drinks!

20th May 2014, Bombardier launched the Global 7000 at its world premier in Geneva. Design Q had the pleasure of collaborating with the industrial design and engineering teams within Bombardier to engineer and manufacture the full-scale interior design prototype. At the time this mock-up was the largest purpose built in business aviation and featured 4 distinct living areas that can be customised to specific principal needs, design preferences, and mission profiles.

The interior cabin featured beautiful materials and details throughout, including polished and brushed metals, luxurious stone, rich hardwood floors and lustrous satin and gloss veneers complimented by the sumptuous silk carpet. The prototype left a lasting impression, with meticulous attention to detail and exquisite craftmanship, exuding contemporary elegance and sophistication.

After its launch the 7000 prototype travelled to many industry events, and due to the ability to transport the mock-up by road it could be displayed to customers in specific select environments and locations that were not accessible to traditional aircraft. As a tool the prototype proved invaluable in showing the world what the Global 7000 (now named 7500) would become when it was certified in 2018.

The last 10 years since the launch has been a whirlwind – in a good way! Not only has the Global 7500 gone on to great success and be held with the highest regard within the industry, we have also had the pleasure of completing highly individual and customised private commissions on the platform.

A great achievement and a real testament to all at the designers and engineers involved with the aircraft development programme and to Bombardier's commitment to develop ground-breaking products.

It’s great to be back at the Aircraft Interiors EXPO in Hamburg this week. We were there at the first event in Cannes and are looking forward to walking the 2022 show, catching up with old and new clients alike.

Sadly, yesterday marked the delivery of the final Learjet aircraft. The Learjet 75 was rolled out of its Wichita hanger into the sunshine and the hands of a long time Learjet owner.
Design Q completed several projects for Learjet over the years, firstly designing the full interior and flight deck concept for the Learjet 85. Updating interior elements for the 60 and the full interior refresh for what became the 70/75.
While it is sad that the Learjet story has closed, Design Q is proud to have played a small part in the Learjet story. 45 – 609 is the last of a long and celebrated line.
