Loke Interior Design Loke Interiors offer a highly personal interior design service.

Loke Interiors is a New Forest design studio creating beautiful, functional spaces — from calm, characterful homes to styled small business spaces with brand support. It is important to me that all of my clients feel ownership over their space and that in my approach to design I do not take control away from them. Instead I build a close working relationship with each client, working collaboratively, to create a bespoke interior that not only looks beautiful but is liveable and inviting and belongs to them, because after all, it is their space, not mine. I understand that a successful project is not just about the finished result but the journey taken to get there, and so I take great pride on the level of attention and customer service I offer every client. For this reason it is important that at the start of the project we establish that we are a good fit for each other. I also limit the number of projects I take on at any one time to ensure I give each design the care and attention it needs.

Before you book the estate agent, take a little time to look at your home with fresh eyes.

What will a buyer see when they walk through the door?

Could the furniture be arranged differently?

Are there rooms that have lost their purpose?

Is there too much clutter competing for attention?

Does the house feel welcoming from the moment someone arrives?

You don’t necessarily need to redecorate or spend a fortune.

Sometimes a few well-considered changes can make a property feel brighter, more spacious and easier for buyers to imagine themselves living in.

That’s where home staging can really help.

I can visit your property, look at it objectively and give you practical recommendations on what I would change and, just as importantly, what I wouldn’t bother spending money on.

Your home doesn’t have to be perfect to sell.

And you definitely don’t need to spend thousands of pounds getting it ready.

One of the biggest misconceptions I come across with home staging is that it means buying lots of new furniture and completely transforming a property.

It doesn’t.

Often, the biggest improvements come from using what you already have more effectively.

Moving furniture.
Removing unnecessary pieces.
Decluttering.
Changing the purpose of a room.
Adding a few simple finishing touches.
Making the entrance feel welcoming.

It’s about showing buyers the potential of the property, rather than creating a completely different home.

That’s why I love home staging. It combines design with a really practical purpose, helping your property make the best possible impression when it goes on the market.

New home, now what?

You’ve moved house.

The boxes are everywhere.

You have a Pinterest board full of ideas.

And absolutely no idea where to start.

Moving into a new home is exciting, but it can also feel surprisingly overwhelming, particularly when you’re faced with an empty room, a house full of possibilities and a long list of things you think you should be doing.

That’s why I created my New Home Priority Plan.

It’s a practical design session designed to help you work out:

• Where your money will make the biggest difference
• Which rooms need attention now
• What can wait
• How everything can work together as you gradually make the house your own

What do I notice when I walk into a property I’m going to stage?

Quite a lot!

I’m immediately looking at the things a buyer is likely to notice, sometimes without even realising it themselves.
Is the room easy to understand?

Does the furniture make the space feel bigger or smaller?

Is there too much competing for attention?

Are there areas that feel dark or neglected?

Does each room have a clear purpose?

And perhaps most importantly…

Can I see the potential?

That last one is really important.

I’m not looking to strip all the personality out of a home. I’m looking for the balance between making it feel welcoming and helping a potential buyer picture their own life there.

Good staging is often about making the right changes rather than making lots of changes.

Selling your home? Don’t underestimate the power of a good first impression.

Before a potential buyer even walks through the front door, they may already have formed an opinion from the photographs online.

That’s why home staging isn’t about making your home look like a show home. It’s about helping potential buyers see the space, understand how it could work for them and, most importantly, imagine themselves living there.

Sometimes it can be as simple as:

• Rearranging furniture to make a room feel bigger
• Removing some of the everyday clutter
• Adding a few carefully chosen accessories
• Creating a more welcoming entrance
• Making sure each room has a clear purpose

A little pause before September…

The late August Bank Holiday always feels like a lovely reminder to slow down for a moment before autumn gets properly underway.

I’ll be spending mine doing a mixture of things I love; spending time with family and friends, enjoying some downtime and, of course, getting some training in for my next big challenge.

In September I’m taking on a 5km sea swim on the South Coast which feels like a suitably ambitious challenge to keep me motivated!

There’ll probably be plenty of swimming, walking, good food and hopefully a little sunshine thrown in too.
I love what I do with Loke Interiors, but I’m also a big believer that life can’t all be about work. Taking a bit of time to recharge usually means I come back with a clearer head and lots of new ideas.

So, whatever you’re doing this Bank Holiday weekend, I hope you get some time to enjoy the things, and people, that make you happy.
