I did a very special release on sunday evening at Shiresmill. Three youngsters who were all found in ditches by the side of the road as babies in the autumn.
Shiresmill is very special to me, I volunteer there on a friday working with the horses. Weve set up feeding stations and the maintenance guys made these amazing hedgehog homes, (mounds!) They have been in use all winter due to a previous release I did there last year and with them being tagged before release they can be post release monitored. Everyone at the yard takes it in turns during the week to sort the feeding stations.
Theres woodland galore all perfect trees, mostly silver birch which is perfect as they drop their leaves in winter which let's the hogs gather bedding and creates bugs hiding under the mulch of leaves.
Good luck wee guys, you are going to have a great life here. 🦔🦔
