Collie Craft is a small business based in the Scottish Highlands. Wool has been used since the Stone Age for clothing and protection from the elements. Man has been unable to synthetically produce a fibre with the unique properties of wool. Wool is natural, renewable, biodegradable, a natural insulator, breathable, resilient, elastic, trans-seasonable, odour resistant, easy to care for (most wool
is now able to be machine washed) and safe (not known to cause allergies, does not encourage the growth of bacteria, is naturally flame retardant and provides a higher level of UV protection than most synthetic fabrics and cotton). As if this is not enough it creates miracles when mixed with love, creativity and a bit of perseverance. Collie craft aims to provide high quality British yarns. It will only sell yarns from reputable wool producers who are able to provide evidence that they follow the guidelines of the International Wool Textile Organisation to ensure the ethical treatment of wool sheep.
