Pasta bowl making this morning on my kick wheel. Very much enjoying making using this wheel as it demands a more gentle relationship between the hands and the clay. More a considered coaxing of the clay than a forcing of the clay. Also it doesn’t interfere with the radio reception

Laptops, apps, AI, well here at the pottery it is back to the future. All smaller pots will be made on this , lovely to use, kick wheel. Glad I didn’t try to learn on one of these though and I’m aware I am using a smart phone, so it is not totally a Luddite zone

Some new little facetted cups with my Nuka style ash glaze over a high iron slip. The slip is made from a clay from near killard Point , Co Down. Collected after an edge of a field collapsed onto the stones by the sea. As you can see from the video it is a rich red/brown colour but in the raw state it was a mustard colour. Essentially it is like a terracotta clay. The slip blends with the glaze in the firing and completely alters the colour. Will only be able to make a small batch of these as probably won’t come across it again. Was just a lucky find by the sea edge.
