The start of business this week was very slow for us, which isn't unusual for this time of year, and on the positive side it gave us chance to get on top of (quite literally in some cases) the massive deliveries of new stock and create some space.
The usual pattern is for things to quieten down once the main school holidays are over, and then get busy with the haloween half term........ And then the serious Christmas shopping starts.
This changed yesterday with an unusual amount of activity in the "present for someone" trade, whether that be Christmas, birthday, anniversary, or just to say thanks to someone.
I often reflect with massive gratitude towards people that chose us for their gift ideas, obviously for the business, but equally for the fact that we're involved in that special moment when the person receives (often with a WTF! 😅), whether it be art, a character or item, or a gift voucher. We're very honoured to be a part of it. We're also very grateful to our customers old and new for the huge amount of patience and good humour with navigating around stock and chaos, it's almost as if people realise we're crackers when they walk in and make allowances for it, and often become part of it.
Could we please remind people that if you see something that you definitely want, pleeeeese say so and we will put it away. A lot of our stuff is original, limited edition, or not repeated. I fully get that when we say that to people it can sound a little bit of the hard sell, but that's something we don't do, we're here to give info and advice on items that you may want, not sell you items that you don't. It's really surprising how many people come and ask for an item they've been thinking about, to find out it's already gone.
Thanks again and have a fantastic Sunday,
Cheers!
Mark
