This wonderful project was so special to me, the lady who contacted me showed me her unfinished and very much lived in sofa. This is a unique and incredibly special piece that her late husband designed and built from scratch.

She asked if I could restore it and keep as much of the original William Morris fabric he chose as possible. Although the fabric was mostly in great shape, there was critically torn and ripped sections that couldn’t be restored.

We discussed her options and decided to use the surviving fabric from the frame to repair and replace the damaged cushion covers. We then sourced the plain fabric to match the back drop for this vintage Golden Lily colourway.

The frame was stripped to the bare wood and all the foam and webbing was replaced for comfort and structure.

I loved working on this unusual piece and it was lovely to experience the creative engineering that went into his solid design. This man was once a tailor amongst many other skills and he held an incredible ability for creativity and considered engineering. It was genuinely an honour to see his design and restore this for his wonderful wife!

This is the result of choosing restoration over buying new. Unique, quality upholstery all tailored to your requirements.

The frames of these were built to last but all the padding and base had collapsed over the years. I worked closely with the customer to discuss their colour, design and comfort requirements. We adapted and replaced everything!

I love this fabric combination, the ribbed Teal fabric by is soft, durable and machine washable. The seats are reversible and everything is removable with covered zips. The four colourful scatter cushions were made with fabric from and piping to match the suite.

Two classic leather chairs and a rocking chair pad to match. This little trio have had a revamp with a sleek and simple leather finish in Antique Birch from
The last reupholstery was completed by an upholstery enthusiast within the clients family. I‘ve made subtle tweaks to improve the comfort and finish while still respecting their design choices.
These chairs now have reversible seats with a matching black top stitched finish. The sprung bases are covered with a neat padded platform to protect the leather and we opted for a thicker seat depth to maximise the comfort on these wonderful chairs.

One week ago today the Festival of Upholstery at the Royal Military Academy in Sandhurst began. 9months prior all the Upholsterers were being gathered together by to form the committee who planned this event.

The festival successfully brought together hundreds of Upholsterers from all backgrounds and experiences. The classes leading up to the festival were led by seven incredible teachers, held local to the venue.

At the event we had so many professional and innovative businesses interacting via the main hall with trade stands and demonstrations, followed by the national upholstery awards.

The second room was packed beyond the chairs available, with nine specialist speakers across both days.
Not to mention the sold out social evening event with the famous Gurkha curry buffet at the alongside drinks and live music.

Being a part of this wonderfully inclusive and forward thinking committee has been so worthwhile. I cannot wait for the next one, follow the festival of upholstery page to see the latest information.

Bella and I have been outsourcing ourselves as Drapes-pup and Drapes-person, and it's been amazing! I can't share the specifics but these jobs have been so much fun.

As Drapesperson, the contributions involve Upholstery on furniture or vehicle interiors, but also curtains, swags, voiles, rugs, pillows and blankets. I can be utilised in all things fabric-related on set in a movie or tv series that isn’t part of costuming/clothing.

I am back in the workshop this week and I will continue to carry out Upholstery for my customers.
