A beautiful finish can only take you so far.
The quality of an Post & Beam frame begins with the timber itself — its strength, suitability, character and how carefully it has been selected for the job.
That’s why we pay so much attention to the material before the real building even begins.
Because when you’re creating something intended to stand for generations, what’s underneath the finish matters far more than people realise.
Well graded and strong structural timbers (Oak, Larch or Douglas Fir) aren’t just something you see. It’s something the building relies on.

There’s no better advertisement for our work than the words of the people we’ve built for.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
From understanding the timber and getting the design right, to communication throughout the project and the final finish — these are the things that matter to us.
So receiving feedback like this from Nell means a great deal.
We’re incredibly proud of the work we produce, but even more proud when our clients are just as happy with the end result.
Planning an oak frame project of your own? We’d love to hear what you have in mind.

When people plan an extension or a new build, they often focus on size.
But one of the biggest transformations comes from something you can't measure in square metres—natural light.
The position of glazing, the height of the roof, the orientation of the building and the way light moves through a space can completely change how a home feels.
A well-designed room doesn't just look beautiful. It feels brighter, calmer and more connected to the outdoors throughout the day.
It's a reminder that great design isn't always about adding more—it's about making better use of what you have.

Every piece of oak we use has a purpose.
Once the main beams and components have been crafted, we're often left with smaller offcuts that are too good to throw away. Rather than letting them go to waste, we cut and split them into firewood.
Throughout the summer, the logs are stacked outside where the warm sun and natural airflow season them ready for winter.
It's a simple process, but one that reflects how we approach every part of our work—making the most of a remarkable natural material and ensuring as little as possible goes to waste.
Because good craftsmanship isn't just about what you build. It's also about respecting the materials you work with.

A look back at one of our bespoke off-grid oak frame homes.
Designed to Passivhaus standards, this project combines traditional oak framing with modern sustainable design. Featuring wood fibre insulation, clay walls, solar panels and a shaded balcony, every element was carefully considered to maximise comfort, minimise energy use and reduce environmental impact.
It's proof that traditional craftsmanship and innovative building methods can work hand in hand to create homes that are not only beautiful, but built for the future.

It's a question we think about on every project.
Not just how a build will look when it's finished—but how it will perform decades from now.
Will the materials age well?
Will the craftsmanship still hold up?
Will the structure still feel timeless?
Building for the future means making the right decisions today.
That's why longevity is at the heart of everything we do.

No two families live the same way, so why should every home be designed the same?
Whether it's an oak-framed extension, a garden room or a complete new build, the best spaces are the ones designed around the people who use them every day.
We believe every project should feel personal—crafted to suit your lifestyle, your property and your vision.
Because a home should never feel off the shelf.

The structure may be complete, but it's the finishing details that bring the entire project together.

We're currently installing and decorating the roof trims, including the barge boards, fascia and soffits. While these elements create a clean, finished appearance, they also play an important role in protecting the roof structure from the elements and ensuring proper ventilation where required.

It's another stage where precision matters. Every board is carefully fitted to complement the craftsmanship of the oak frame, creating a finish that's built to last and designed to look just as good for years to come.

Progress is coming together nicely, and we look forward to sharing the finished result.

Why does oak remain one of the most sought-after building materials, even centuries after it was first used?

The answer goes beyond aesthetics.

Oak has earned its reputation through generations of proven performance. Its exceptional strength, natural durability and timeless appearance have made it the material of choice for everything from historic buildings to modern homes.

One of the most remarkable qualities of oak is that it continues to evolve. As it matures, the timber develops a rich patina and distinctive character, making every structure even more unique over time.

When you're investing in a home, you're not just choosing how it will look on the day it's finished—you're choosing how it will perform and age for decades to come.

That's why, even in 2026, oak continues to stand the test of time.
