A quick ode to Roman blinds…
Every so often I like to shine a little light on the things that quietly make our homes feel lovely — and Roman blinds definitely fall into that category.
Here’s a bit of insider knowledge from our corner of Yorkshire:
🪡 Made beautifully by people who really know their stuff
I work very closely with a brilliant local workroom — I’ve known them for years, and they’re absolute wizards when it comes to making Romans. They’re calm, precise, experienced, and somehow always manage that perfect, crisp finish. I trust them completely (and that’s saying something when you’ve seen as many blinds as I have!).
✨ Bonded lining as standard
This is what gives a Roman blind that lovely, full shape rather than looking a bit… sad pancake. We always use a bonded lining — cotton sateen or blackout — both with a thermal layer, which is very handy in North Yorkshire!
💪 Reliable, sturdy hardware
All our Romans come on premium, heavy-duty tracks with a smooth chain control (you choose which side). No faffing, no swearing at tangled cords — they just work.
📏 Up to 2.4m wide
Perfect for those big windows that like to show off.
🎀 Gzuzz them up with trims, borders & contrast lining
Trims and braids are always an option if you fancy a bit of personality, but one of my favourite touches is the contrast lining. When the blind is down, it looks beautiful from the outside as well as the inside. It’s a small detail, but it makes a big difference.
There you have it, Roman blinds done properly, with quality materials, skilled hands, and a bit of Yorkshire pride.
