Over the last three years I have knitted Poppy's brooches with Dorset Buttons worked in grey and black thread and crystal black beads.

They have a diameter of approximately 7cm .

I use a grey and black thread as I feel the pail grey represents the white for peace.

This year I have used a cotton yarn to knit the petals and the usual DMC size 20 perle thread

The Poppy Appeal in the U K will receive £2.00 for each Poppy sold.

My Dorset Button Workshops for this Autumn are now confirmed. I hope you find one that interests you. I can now offer workshops online and in my studio. Bookings have already started so if you are interested please do not hesitate. Book now.

I have limited numbers to six online and to four in my studio. My studio is in a village very near Shaftesbury in Dorset, The birth place of the Dorset Button industry in the early part of the 1600s.

Im preparing for a lovely weekend at the childokefordarttrail2026. From Friday 28th to Monday 31st August, 23 talented artists and craftspeople will be exhibiting their work in their own homes, studios and community spaces. I'm exhibiting in the Village Hall.
This is just a sample of my work that I'm exhibiting. I'll also have and my Dorset Button Instruction booklet to help you start on your own Dorset Button journey.
I look forward to seeing you over this Bank Holiday weekend, Child Okeford is a lovely Dorset Village and well worth visiting.

I'm just back from a lovely few days in Pembrokeshire. Walking from beech to beech. Visiting Picton Castle & Gardens and returned to Around Tenby. My last visit was fifty years ago.

Please help me. I want to find out if you think I should add more options to my Dorset Button Dreamcatcher kit. I was thinking of using a variety of beads and yarns. Dorset Buttons meet Croquet. Last year I joined my local Croquet Club in Tisbury and have now become addicted to this gentle game. Although sometimes it's not so gentle when you ball is sent of the lawn. By they way, unlike the start of Rivals, I don't play in red very high healed shoes, I choose sensible comfortable trainers.
As part of Tisbury Fete we will be playing for anyone who whould like to see how the game is played. I'm playing a short game this at 12.30pm. You can find us at the far end of the football grounds.
