Time to pay some attention to my Etsy shop which has been hibernating like most of us.

Five needle gauges of assorted makes, Abel Morrall’s, Vicars’, Moran and two unnamed which feel older. I really mustn’t keep them all so they’ll be appearing in my shop shortly.

An unexpected piece of history arrived on my desk this afternoon.
It’s a wet day and a perfect opportunity to stay inside and finish work on my Camden Bag.
I went to look for some strong cotton thread and found the matching shade amongst the collection I inherited from my mother-in-law after she’d died over twenty years ago.
In the centre of the reel was the wrapper, showing that it is a skein of Adern’s Crochet Cotton, and the accompanying advertisement for Fancy Needlework Illustrated dates it to sometime between 1920 and 1939, so almost one hundred years old.
Grateful thanks to and happy memories of the previous MrsG who was a skilled needlewoman and left me just the thing I required today.

I’ve been sorting out some bags of haberdashery given to me by a friend. It came from his mother’s sewing room.
One of the bags contained threads for darning; a lifetime’s supply!
My favourite is the 1d card of ‘finest empire wool’ one of which I shall keep. The rest will appear in my Etsy shop soon, but in the meantime please send a message if any of it is of interest to you.

It’s always an exciting moment when you receive a parcel full of Sylko reels, especially when two of them are new-to-me colours
I’m about to squirrel away Stone Drab and Copper Beech into my collection
